Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton Central Defender) Linked......

Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite is wanted by a trio of Championship sides, according to the Daily Mail.

The Everton central defender is being looked at by Blackburn, Sheffield Wednesday & Preston.

Everton central defender Branthwaite joined Everton on a two-and-a-half-year deal from Carlisle United last January, for a fee of around £750,000.

The defender made four Premier League appearances under Carlo Ancelotti towards the back end of last season, starting alongside Michael Keane in defence.

But the 18-year-old has made only one appearance for the Toffees this season – lasting only 24 minutes in the 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Salford City in September.

He’s now fit after returning from injury, and a loan move could be in the offing for him this month as he looks to get back up to speed.

According to the Daily Mail, Preston, Blackburn and Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing Branthwaite.

Thought this lad had already all but signed for Blackburn Rovers - sure I saw it on sky sports news last night.

Not really sure why we would be after another central defender - surely our priority target is a striker or two, then a left back then some attacking flare in midfield. With Lees, Dunkley, JVA, Borner and Shaw if needed I think we have more than enough cover in this position.

He's a left footed footballing centre half who they got from Carlisle. He still looks a bit lightweight and needs a talker alongside him. I know a few Everton fans who rave about him but he's not getting in their team ahead of Mina, Holgate, Keane, Godfrey, etc.

Would be a waste of money when we clearly need to strengthen other areas first. Although it was said it was a done deal to Blackburn the other day so i doubt we are in with a chance.

Will be an interesting conversation with his agent.

'Jarrad - I know you are in the first team squad of one of the top Premier League clubs, being coached and managed by one of the most successful managers of all time, but Sheffield Wednesday are interested.'

'Thanks Mr Agent, tell me more - what style do they play, what is their plan, how much are they paying, who is the manager.?'

Agent - ' Lets move on-  Blackburn are interested Jarrad as well'
