I'm not entirely sure we can pin the blame or cause on one single factor. It seems as though Rhodes was destined to play for us, and it should have worked out. I think there are a few things to consider. The first point is that we signed him when we were a fairly settled side and had just signed Sam Winnall. We had a lot of striking options at that point. It's pretty clear that Carlos didn't want him, but felt he had to play him. Then, Carlos hanging Rhodes out to dry over not taking a penalty was awful man-management, even if you think Rhodes should have stepped up. We then had a succession of managers who never seemed keen on playing him. Despite all that, on a goals-per-minutes played basis, Rhodes' stats aren't that bad. Another factor which I think goes overlooked is that, for a while, Nuhiu was in fantastic form. Had Nuhiu not been in such great form, I think we would have seen Rhodes get more games. My gut feeling is that if Rhodes signs for another Championship side, he will do what he has done for most of his career; score goals. 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Think he’ll still score goals if he up top with a lump and plenty of crosses come in? But very few teams play like that now and tbh he looks spent? Wotever we get offered take it best for all parties? Oh and don’t think qpr will match his wages cus he’ll take a drop he out of contract in summer and he’ll know it’s a different ball game now? The other two maybe had more to offer Wednesday but I don't think Wilkinson going to Leeds was a mistake for Wednesday.
