Surely fans wouldn't go for a European league especially if it was played at the weekend, fans want to beat their rivals from down the road. Can only see this having a short shelf life.

Popular Post striker
Bye, I'd go further and let them out of the PL altogether. The 'big 6' tried to buy more control, that didn't work so now threatening to take their ball home and start a new invitation only competition to exert more control over the rest of the cannon fodder teams in the PL. 13

It stinks top to bottom. Sport and fans mean nothing anymore. Billionaires making even more money is the only thing that matters. And we all have to stand by while TV companies big it up and sell it to the numptys who buy into it.

This. The PL should tell them “The remaining PL clubs & the EFL will re-organise English football without you & the FA should exclude them from the FA Cup.
SiJ
The funny thing is, people assume these top clubs will be happy once they get their breakaway or a bigger say in the running of the domestic game. It won't. Give it 5 years and some within the European elite (Real, Barca, Liverpool, Man U etc.,) will have determined that they are the main draw to the super league in terms of revenue, tv viewership and so forth. Before you know it, they'll be demanding a bigger cut of any tv deal or threatening to form a further breakaway league if they don't get their way.
Django
It’s inevitable that this would eventually happen. People always go on about the PL being the best league in the world when in reality nobody wants to watch Burnley v Brighton or Sheffield United v Fulham. The draw for the foreign audience is always the top 6 and they all know it
camffiti
The bubble that the media & football businesses share, will be excited about it, while its new No one else will give a sh*t
Popular Post adelphi1867
Good riddance. As long as they leave English football altogether. Realign the Football in this country, yes the money will dry up, but it will be far more attractive if EVERY club had the same chance of success as the next club, and the clubs and players would adapt.

I suppose we have to accept a portion of responsibility seeing as we were one of the original 22, but still. Essentially, the PL (combined with Europe) has created a cartel of clubs at the top who consider themselves to be bigger than the game in this country and elsewhere. In all honesty, I think they overestimate how exciting a super league will be, particularly if there is nothing in the way of relegation. The same teams playing each other again and again, over the course of 9 or so months. Sounds great at first, boring after a while.
Watto
For me there would nothing more boring than seeing the same old super powers playing each other every year in a league whilst sky and the media lap it up

Yellowbelly
In a breakaway super league it doesn’t matter how rich all the competitors are - someone still has to finish bottom. How will the global fan base of these “elite” clubs take to that?
