beswetherick Posted January 17, 2021 Share Posted January 17, 2021 They’ll have a decent squad for this level when they come down - as they should do for the money they’ve chucked at it - but how well they do in the Championship hinges on how damaging this season has been to them mentally. The last year has been a massive fall from grace for them, it’s not the same situation as Norwich last season where they were relegated before a ball was kicked, the pigs had a freak season last year riding the crest of a wave and it’s all come crashing down hard. Mentally that’s got to be hard to recover from. Also if they’ve already borrowed against TV money (e.g. parachute payments) then they might have to sell their ‘better’ players who still have some value. The players who came up the leagues with them could have their heads turned by one last big payday/shot at the big time if another PL club starts sniffing around too, rather than the slog of a Championship season in a team that’s mentally broken. I think Billy Blunt has had it for them whatever division they’re in but Brewster has done it before as has McBurnie and even Burke could be a threat with his pace (this is if they all stay of course). Yeah, I know how that works thanks. One team has currently spent the last half a season showing how out of depth they are in the top division. I reckon team last season than they are this so not sure why you are using last season as an example. Last season Utd were better than 11 teams in the PL according to the table.
