Honestly I think he was probably THE most bafflingly underrated player in the championship between about 2013-2018.

 

Absolutely brilliant for the 2-3 years before his hip went, so consistently effective. Great football brain, incredible engine.

Great player rush back from injuries too quickly and finished his career 4 or 5 years early. Could have been the main stay in our midfield for a few more years but for that and young players learning how to be a better pro.

Quality player and one who should have had a much better career him and Hooper were a class above every one else in that 2015-2017 era proper footballers.

If it wasn’t for his injuries he would have been playing in the Prem. Top quality when he was fit.

THE greatest Owls player of the last 20 years bar none and my favourite of that period without a doubt. Also, probably the only Owls player in the last 20 years that has legend status. 
 

Call me melodramatic but I genuinely felt sad watching that clip knowing we won’t see him play for us again.

Remember the first 2 Carlos seasons watching him and Bannon and being absolutely gobsmacked at how much ground they covered. Absolutely unbelievable. God knows how dedicated you must be to get that fit.

Only midfield player we've had in recent memory with the engine, and the brain to make those late "Lampard" runs into the box, brought so many very similar looking goals. 

 

Top, top player before the injuries and criminally underrated,  probably the one who genuinely could have held his own at a higher level.

On a tangent, it’s such a shame they / we stopped that pressing game after that first season.
