Even though I'm not one for changing managers constantly, if we could get Pearson then we should go out and get him.

Pedigree at this level and usually has an eye for a player.

Leicester:

Kramaric £9m

Danny Simpson £2.5m

Ulloa £10m

Vardy £1.2m

Wood £1.2m

James £1.2m

Morgan £1.1m

Marshall (yes, THAT Marshall) £1.1m

Drinkwater £900k

Mahrez £500k

The head scout Steve Walsh scouted most of the players, so I'm not sure Pearson can take too much credit for what was a mixed bag)

Lots of loans

Derby:

Vydra £9.5m

Anya £4.5m

Sacked after 5 months so no other transfers of note

OH Leuven:

Thamsatchanan £1.25m (Thai player from the Thai league. Smells shady to me)

Kerrouche £500k

Hendricks £400k

And lets not forget Hirst...

Watford:

Pussetto £8m

Joao Pedro £4m

Probably Pozzo signings so can't really judge.

I'd say his signings have been a mixed bag, you can't really say he has an eye for a player either as a lot of the success stories were from a scouting network already in place.

But hey ho.

Why do managers get bashed when signings are crap and scouts get praise when they are good? Same at s6 depending what argument people put forward it’s the manager or the chairman who makes the decision

Pearson will have had the final say on the signings. He said yes to some gems and yes to some overly expensive stinkers. Hence "mixed bag". I don't think you can say he has an eye for a signing is all.

Joao Pedro was at Watford before I think.

Just look at the signings he made at Leicester - Vardy, Mahrez, Morgan, Drinkwater & Simpson won the Prem. Mahrez sold on for mega money.

Think it's a pretty decent record tbf.

I think what he does have an eye for is what a team needs - it's strengths, weaknesses, organisation and make up. If you could combine that with good scouting / recruitment you have a potent combination.

Not sure the Monk out brigade will allow those views of Learson count for much

If Monks problem is that he hasn't got an assistant, that's his fault for accepting the job knowing he would only have Bullen

You cant say that's why he is rubbish and its not his fault, when he accepted the job on those terms

If we’d struggled from day 1 I may have Had a bit of sympathy for Monk.

Fact is we were 3rd at Christmas above Brentford and Fulham so things must have been ok.

What happened? Apart from outing the wrong’uns and telling players they wouldn’t be getting new contracts.

True, but Pearson’s track record and achievements are far greater than Monk. Albeit Pearson has been doing the job for longer.  But if you were to back one of them to make you successful I think most would opt for Pearson (and not just Owls fans)

Some are saying Pearson is as mad as a box of frogs, which is maybe true. But Big Ron wasn’t exactly Mr Boring, and Sir Alex once kicked a boot that hit his star player in the face. Bielsa spied at opponents training grounds and Mourinho had the biggest ego on the planet.

I’d say managers with a “personality” often tend to get players to play for them even if they are “mad”.  So I don’t have a problem with Pearson being unpredictable

During the Summer 2 years ago Radio Sheffield were doing a show and they bumped into Nigel Pearson..think it was at a craft or antique fair. They had a chat and asked him about his managerial ambitions.

He confirmed that he definitely wants to be a manager again but he’s loving the break spending time with his family.

He said he’s fortunate because he’s not desperate to find work...so he can afford to be fussy and wait for the right club.

Radio Sheffield asked him directly could he ever be a future SW manager.

He said it’s very unlikely....he explained that he still lives in the area...him and his family are very settled and love living in Sheffield.

He said he still has a strong affinity with the club and bumps into Wednesday fans all the time....receiving kind words.

He said he wants to keep it that way and loves the freedom that he can go our socialising with family and forget about football pressures.

He said privacy and freedom to leave his home without hassle to him or his family is really important to him

So he’s not likely to ever work for any club in the area he lives. Then he joked that one he might move house.

The way to sell it to DC is to point out that NP and his assistant  CS have that connection with Wednesday  a bit like Wilder...that should do it 😎

He’s just got the sack for physically laying into them and most of our lot are saying our idiot bunch should have been cuddled and nurtured.

Make your fuckingminds up!!

Where did you get your info from? Troy Deeney has said that's a load of rounduns.

"The gaffer didn't put his hands on anybody, he was just frustrated and had a firm talking to us," Deeney said.

"No-one was fighting, no-one was punched. There were no hands thrown."

Pearson and Bullen would be a dream team for me. Both captains, both raised trophies wearing the blue and white stripes.

I’d even go as far as getting Palmer back from China as the fitness coach...

Of course we don’t yet have an availability here, but if we did, and we remain a championship club, then Pearson should be a target. Going on who’s available in this country, him and Hughton are the stand out candidates. For that reason alone, they will probably be less achievable targets than the rest. Indeed Hughton is already being linked with Watford. The Watford job, for a lot of reasons, might actually be a good fit for Hughton, if he can manage the sort of longevity Dyche was afforded. For similar reasons, Wednesday could possibly be a similarly good fit for us.
