So why aren’t Brentford’s ticket prices as high as ours?

Why do you keep ignoring the answer you have asked for (when you have provided yourself). Their strategy includes buying young, cheap talent that they can and do sell for a profit. Ours does not and we have not sold players when we have had the chance, although selling Joao for a good price was at least a step in the right direction.

I shouldn't need to answer that. They have better transfer strategies. They balance the books more effectively buying cheap and selling at a decent return. Something we do very badly.

But surely Brentford are in a perfect position to hike up their prices to the same as ours, and tell the fans that’s whats needed to compete in this division?

The fans would believe it as fans tend to just believe everything a club tells them.

Brentford are missing a right trick here surely

Still doesn’t answer why we are paying the highest ticket prices and yet are plummeting down the league, have poor facilities, poor catering experience and non existent communications from the club on strategy

We, the supporters are paying for Chansiri"s mistakes, simple as that.

Because their owners hasn't created millions of pounds of debt through bad business decisions.

Pretty much.

Brentford buy potential and then sell it on for profit.

Wednesday have fallen into the trap of trying to bring in the read made thing or take a stab at foreign imports who aren't that good.

Chansiri's pricing strategy is because he has no other answer. He has expensive playing resources but cannot balance the books. So he turns to the only option left, the fans. Back to the root cause behind all the issues blighting the club now, the transfer strategy. Clubs simply cannot hoard players the way that Wednesday have. Players have to be sold to balance the books, period. The damage has been done.

Because Brentford's owners didn't try to front load cash in order to comply with FFP.

Chansiri's whole approach has been about the short term. Boom and bust. Get in the Prem.

That's why we charged stupid POTD ticket prices and have multi year season ticket deals.

He had us paying high prices before he overspent though. He didn’t put prices up once we overspent. He openly said in one of those fan forums “your ticket prices barely cover anything”.

could do that by

Player sales at profit

Creating a better Matchday experience

Making ticket buying more attractive and easier

Improving the catering on matchdays

etc etc

This x 1000  is the main reason we are in the brown stuff and that is all down to one mans decisions.

EVERY club in the world has to sell to balance the books, its f***in laughable how we have neglected this very simple premise.

Wilder has openly admitted that the only reason he was able to bring Egan , Norwood and last seasons loanees to the club was because they sold Brookes for £12 M

If anyone can explain why we have the highest ticket prices that would be great

pretty simple...we have a chairman/owner who is detached from us as fans and the club it’s untrue!! Prime example is the ticket prices and sales for the city game in the cup.

It’s pretty obvious he doesn’t understand FFP based on our lack of ability to move players on at the right times. This is the single major source of money into the club and we have missed the boat on several occasions but are still paying ridiculous wages etc...

id be happy to see the back of him.

I'd suggest that the higher ticket prices exist because the owner doesn't know how to develop the Wednesday brand properly.

Revenue is developed progressively by other clubs and it goes beyond just ticket sales for games. First, there's the match day experience (ie, bulding revenue streams from the fans turning up for a game) but that's just a part of the overall brand of a football club now - there's the whole corporate element and then other revenue and business streams as well as selling players on for profit after they've been developed, etc etc.

I'd suggest that these haven't been developed adequately (and that's me being diplomatic!) for Wednesday and so there's therefore too much of a reliance on ticket sales/prices to cover the costs of wages, transfer fees and the general running/admin of the club.

Again, this b*llocks situation is all down to the downright incompetence of our owner - he isn't good enough from a business perspective never mind a football one.

DC's business model of choice. I understood (didnt particularly agree) as he explained it when he came in that it was a necessary balance to allow him to invest. Invest he did and to be fair we did have a squad bereft of much quality.

Subsequent failure to be promoted and some poor recruitment, means prices and owner investment still necessary at unsustainable levels to keep the club going and FFP compliant.

I dont think closing off, what was already a poorly managed commercial income stream helped. 10 year season tickets don't wash, nor do membership schemes, what are we supposed to be buying into?

To be fair we have some good season ticket prices in areas, but POTG tickets are not value for money. The simple fact is that the product on the pitch is poor, people wont come if the product is bad. I'm  not saying that cheaper tickets would change that for some, but it does place a barrier to attending for many fans, either through financial necessity or choice.

In the same way DC over values players, he overvalues the product he is ultimately responsible for. In football, there isn't a direct correlation to money invested v money charged in ticket prices.

Brentford’s wage budget to how they play and where they are is incredible.

They are the epitome of a well run football club, plus they are somehow managing to finance the building of a new stadium.

What’s the point in raking over this again, it’s been done to death.  The club is f00ked and unfortunately all we can do is sit, watch it unfold and prey there’s something left at the end.  It’s a sad state of affairs but it’s been coming since Chansiri’s two year plan failed, he’s been called out time and time again but the people pointing his failures out were told to f00koff t lane.

There is NO justification for any club charging what we do - whether we be fighting relegation or going for the champions league

Most clubs in this country fleece their supporters, the FA do it to for cup matches as well.

Clubs and chairmen on a whole couldn't care less

Not sure but I remember questioning ticket prices a few years ago and was told that if you want champagne football you must pay champagne prices or feck off to the lane and watch tripe.

The moment DC came in and increased season ticket prices  - it set off alarm bells
