I imagine that is just poorly written.  However, if they are, Herries Road South and Herries Road would be the diversion route.

Apart from reopening the LL exit from the North, it's the most practical solution.

How are the car thief's going to car thieve with all that traffic passing through.

Clearly not been thought through.

How far down Penistone Road?  What about shoppers coming out of the Barracks ? What about all the cars parked at the leisure centre, mr Clutch, Kwik fit etc (not just match traffic either). This level of stupidity is bizarre. 500 QPR fans, around 21,000 Owls, less than half the old capacity. How can making the whole North Stand empty at one side be safer than half going one way and half another. The general public (and Football fans) should not be treated this way, it's nothing short of outrageous.

It will be shut from Shalesmoor to Grenoside . Elf and safety grounds.

Do any of you know the area and what happens on matchday at the moment?

Leppings Lane is closed before, during and after the match.  So you can forget that.

With the exception of the filter lane for Herries Rd South.  Penistone Rd northbound will be closed from the junction of Parkside Rd to the junction of Leppings Lane, Halifax Rd, Herries Rd and Penistone Rd (the roundabout went years ago).

Penistone Rd southbound will closed from the same junction to Herries Rd South.

The diversion will run via Herries Road and Herries Rd South in both directions.  Given a clear run that will add a couple of minutes to journeys.

Important supporter information

Just now

Revised road traffic measures designed to maximise the supporter experience following Owls home games have been given the green light.

Both carriageways of Penistone Road will be closed for up to an hour on Saturday matchdays from 4.30pm after the club and Sheffield City Council agreed the measures this week.

Similar closures will also be in place for midweek kick-offs with a short diversion for motorists and other road users.

The club continue to work hand in hand with all the relevant authorities to ensure supporter safety remains paramount in all matchday planning strategies.

Thank you for your co-operation.

the council/sag have only done this because by forcing 1000s of extra supporters out onto Penistone road someone would have got killed and im sure the relatives would have sued the bast*rds ,pack of total idiots they are , its not that home and away supporters will be at the same tram stop is it or in the same chippy que , if these measures happen for qpr who fetch 400 then whats the plan for leeds? have a 2 mile exclusion zone for cars ,bring the army in and tanks?

by closing Penistone road and forcing out of town traffic onto parkside road that will cause total gridlock as there in quite a few motorists what wont have an idea about football so all will be forced off too the left at side of park , if someone in that area needs an ambulance in that time I don't know how it could get through

Don't really think this will be needed for so long.

The danger is the volume of pedestrians for a short while spilling onto the road and crossing it.

My guess and hope for all concerned it will be about 20 minutes.

If the road is to be closed "from 4:30", I suspect it'll be closed more than 20 minutes.

Daft question of the day.

Coming from town down Penistone Road (or other way tbf) wtf are they diverting traffic to?

Probably asking people to turn left and up past the park and towards Leppings Lane..

More knock ons as a consequence from the first decision to provide unreasonable segregation to closing the exit onto Leppings Lane and then closure of part of the North Stand...

Closure of both carriageways is unnecessary IMO.

They will be expecting the club to pay for smart signage all the way back to the bottom of Netherthorpe Road next to advise motorists that Penistone Road is closed and diversions are in place....

Where will it end.
