Castleford Owl
Tough set of fixtures BUT... taking the 5 home games in isolation, they are all winnable. Blackburn, Villa, Forest, Bristol C, QPR. Who knows eh... it’s nice to have some excitement though!

Saturday’s a must win. Derby are in no form and I’d say the other contenders for 6th are Bristol City, Forest and Villa and we’ve still to play them all at home
NeonLeon
Going off the fixtures left to play Bristol could easily be way out of it this time next month. Looking at it I’d go Forest as favourites then maybe Preston, Us and Villa. Boro have to play most of the chasing pack too so we could be talking about 2 play off spots being up for grabs come late April.
SiJ
At least it's a bit exciting now. Actually looking at the fixtures and thinking they matter, as opposed to just wrapping the season up. Out of our run-in, the only sides with really nothing to play for are Stoke and QPR.

Only upside is we generally play better against top teams than bottom. As someone on this thread said, win the next 2 and I'll start to fantasise about another 15,000 kilometre round trip to Wembley...

Clue.... something to do with stats but not about football per se - but about the calendar.... 1907, 1935, 1991, 2019. There's a problem with 1963. Dunno what happened there and why, but there's something more to the fact that we've won something significant in gaps of 28 years - and it's to do with the calendar - what is it?
NYCOWL
It would be an unprecedented run. But... I look at the pack we have put ourselves in, and none of them scare me. Still, think we’ve left it too late. But only just...

They were promotion favourites and had a poor first few months of the season but hit form and were in the top 6 by the end of January, finished 3rd only missing out on autos by 2 points and were 15 points clear of 7th. This season will be a memorable one half a season 'managed' by a lunatic who made us play that feckin stupid sideways passing defensive russian roulette with half the available squad DC perplexed at this football malarkey and the fans' unrest gets the message and gets a proper football and man manager in Bullen does a handbrake turn and shows the exiles are available Our new manager watches the cricket instead the little teaser walks in arranges 3 players who improve us in 1 day converts palmer into a player 10 games unbeaten with such a shame about the draws How we are 3 pts away feck knows Fairly sure we could have been in the top four if managed correctly from the start The odds are it's going to be another chance that got away but we can dream

Dutch McLovin
It has that same feeling of when we pipped them to second in league one (2012 was it). Could see us sneaking in and doing them in the play off semis !!!

So good perhaps but it leaves a nagging doubt that with the fixtures left we don't quite have the quality. Pigs couldn't beat us twice, should have beaten Leeds under Manuel (Ci senor' delphon) Jos. We're normally Norwich bogey side, those are the top 3. Its the Wednesday way, we can beat anyone in this division on our day and normally beat the better teams and loose to the dross, so who knows. Yes it's a tough run in on paper, but looking at it from a normal Wednesday standpoint, the less crap teams to play the more chance of success
mrrodge
I think we need 10 points from the next 4 going into the Leeds game which is a huge ask and as much as i'd love it to happen I think we are just going to fall short Roll on next season

Over the season that would have had us finishing on 80 points, comfortably in the playoffs. Including that spell our average is dragged down to 1.4 ppg, leaving us with a huge job to claw things back. Maintaining current form under SB we'd finish just short on 69 points If we could repeat the finish that Jos achieved last season (19 points from the last 9 games, W6,D1,L2) we'd be on 71. Incidentally we also took 19 from the last 9 the season before that as well. That might just be enough for a 6th place finish this season as at the moment its looking like 72-ish might do it, but probably agonisingly short. So we need 20+ from that lot. As you said, no worries
andytrig
Realistically we are going to need 22 points from the remaining 9 matches. So 7 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat. I'm always incredibly optimistic and want to believe it's possible, which it is but it's statistically highly unlikely, especially with some of the fixtures that are left. However, next season.........
Bulldog
Nah, not happening. Assuming Derby win tonight the gaps back to 6 points with 9 games to play. With our gd we would need 3 more wins than them (we aren't going to catch 5th spot) before the end of the season so the only way it can realistically happen is if we win all 9. Still exciting times though
