Boyd

Boyd at least has a sense of purpose in his play unlike the other prominent midfielder on display tonight. He is laborious, he does look unfit and has no pace,  I agree. But he is playing with some very average players and coming back after a long lay off, I do not think he is the worst on display not deserving such rubbishing.

He's a grafter and that's to his credit, but he doesn't seem to read the game well at all. Anything that isn't played comfortably into his path seems to bypass him completely.

This exactly. He cannot read the game defensively at all. If it doesnt land at his head or foot he cannot recover. Slow to put in a challenge. Fair play hes out of postion but afraid he another one perhaps past his prime.

Burnley used to use him as their main long ball out of defence on the counter. He can chase them all day long.

Our total lack of pace means we seem to try to move forward in quick short triangles most of the time, and he often looks like he's playing piggy in the middle. And losing badly.

Think we can all agree he’s been poor, but we are sticking him in a position where you need pace and a position he can’t play, boyd, fox, pudil can’t play wingback/fullback, and while Reach has probably been our best player this season and played mostly well in his new position,I do think we should switch boyd and reach

He’s a number 10 being asked to play at wing back, most players would just flat refuse to do that so fair play to him for trying and putting a shift in. Lacks pace for the position for sure but he can run all day. Would like to see him centrally because no doubt he’s a talent.

He hasn't been a number 10 for a long time, rarely played that position for Burnley. Yes he has been out injured a long time but once players are match-fit to play and are playing regularly then it doesn't take them that long to get back into it and it's not as if general fitness has been an issue for him before. He looks lacking in confidence and slow to act or react with or without the ball.

He looked decent in the first half on Saturday when we were on the front foot but poor second half and again tonight when asked to defend. The position he is playing is probably the main issue but I can't see him being that effective anywhere else. Our options left-back or left wing-back are very limited though even with a fully fit squad.
