Lincs Owl
Derek was one of my early heroes. In March 1960, in my very first Owls away game, he scored twice at the Lane (at the Shoreham end) in the first ten minutes to take us into the FAC semi-final. Sorry to hear of his death.

dumboldowl
He was an ever present in the Owls side when I first started going to Hillsborough. Him, and Alan Finney on the other wing, were both excellent crossers of the ball and made great contribution to the success of a very good side at that time. Thanks for the memories Derek, and rest in peace.
marconi
R.I.P Derek, and well done to his neighbour for highlighting his plight in his hour of need. Went to his testimonial in 1967, where Ron Springett played centre forward! with a score of 8-7 to Wednesday.

RIP Derek My 2 favourite Wednesday goals of the 1960's. Right in front of the Bramall Lane Kop. Wilkinson & Finney on the wings, Swapping positions to confuse the full backs Derek even used to make the odd appearance as a more than useful centre forward too. Great player, R.I.P.
