Carlos's attitude

Recommended Posts

I too get the feeling that Carlos is running out of ideas. I think his football ethos works well when it's an open game but when teams sit back we are shocking....truly shocking.

There are plenty of teams who played 2 days ago that won today so I don't buy that excuse (even though he says it's not an excuse). On top of that what's this 'fresh air' he says the players need? The football this season has been quite a few rungs below last term and yet we still find ourselves in 6th place. We are a long way off looking like a team worthy of the PL.

It's  been a peculiar season to date when you look at it.

Defensively we aren't letting in a huge amount of goals but the full-back positions scare the life out of me. Hunt cannot defend and Pudil and Palmer are nothing more than back-up in my opinion. Westwood, Lees, Hutchinson and Loovens are probably the reason our defensive record has been decent.

I'd like it if we got a settled midfield and stick with it. The lynchpins of that for me have to be Hutchinson and Lee. I can't help but think we are 'accommodating' Bannan after last season and he hasn't been great this time around. We are crying out for width and pace and to get around the outside of the fullback and to the byline. Hopefully McManaman and Reach can give us that.

Up front we really have to play two of either Fletcher, Forestieri or Hooper. Joao is an absolute shadow of the start of his Wednesday career an Nuhiu has dropped down the order. Ideally though we should be playing two of the three in order to give the actual opposition their toughest game. Today we kept ploughing the ball up high when their back lie and Edwards sitting in midfield were all over 6ft. Can't think of a time we ever peeled off and ran down the sides of them.

Right now, if Hutchinson gets injured for any length of time we can forget about the play-off - it's that simple and he's that important to us. This is unless other players step up to the plate which they don't seem to be doing right now. Those players in question are the likes of Forestieri, Bannan, Reach or Hooper.

Right at the start of that interview he said something along the lines of 'it was a bad performance' but quickly checked himself.

Like Owls2k said, he'll never slate the players publicy but he knew as well as anyone that it was a pisss poor show.

Let's hope he gets our mojo back sharpish.

The festive period is over ! Why are there so many fruit cakes left over ?

I know, of course you are all disappointed and you will continue to be so unless you desist in counting our points before we have earned them.

Cheer up everyone if the Owls are as bad as you seem to suggest why not lump big on Boro next week, draw your cash then come to Hillsborough v Tudders  and see the transformation.

Ime going to Cheer up and go to udders game but my patience and funds are running low, we are clearly off the pace and riding our luck, I can't see where the goals are going to come from, where has our passion and drive gone.

I think his moaning about the fixture list results in this lethargic type of performances, he's basically allowing them to feel tired and run down-basically saying "I excuse you for not being sharp-because there is no way you possibly could be"-we know this is the case but it doesn't need to be said. What is more is that all clubs here have to do it so there is no advantage or disadvantage to either side-so all the players are in the same boat. He needs to be tougher on the players otherwise they all turn pappy. You know what it's like at work when somebody starts complaining, it brings everyone down. I think he's creating a similar effect. Stay positive CC.

As soon as he said that, I stopped listening to his interview.

Very poor from CC.

I've said this before and I'll repeat myself:

WHAT THE MANAGER SAYS ON THE RADIO IS USUALLY THE POLAR OPPOSITE TO WHAT HE SAYS TO THE SQUAD.

He's not making excuses, simply saying how it is to the media.  He isn't going to come out and say "well Barry wasn't very good, and Stephen didn't play well enough" because it serves no purpose to slag individuals off in public.  The players will know exactly how he feels and will be coached accordingly over the next 10 days.

Just not bothered...

My first post on here but followed the owls all my life even know I live 400miles away - I get to about 5/6 games a year and over the years as we all have felt a huge amount of frustration with owners and managers but I think we need to be sensible.

I was not at the game, but was at Newcastle and I would really worry if we as fans (even so called PTers like me) turn on CC after two draws and in sixth in the LGE.

Things coild be better and things could be so much worse. We Could be scrapping for survival, by the same measure we could be in 2nd by now if we picked the points we have had almost on a plate.

I think its far to soon to start turning on CC and see what happens over January as a whole, some may change their opinions after a few good results.

Let's be positive, point earned not two lost. The only urgency and pressure is because of what happened last season - let's see where we go no?

He is no different to other managers, basks in the glory after a good win, full of excuses after a poor performance.

Incorrect, our best league performance under CC at Newcastle he said was down to his players, who 'Upgraded his plan'. Today, after an awful performance he stood up for them publicly.

Did I hear correctly, thought he actually said players needed "fresh air". Perhaps I misheard.

Yes, clearly a metaphor for the players to rest, rejuvenate and a chance to prepare for the next match

Lot's of negative stuff being written today, some I agree with, lots I don't. This however is probably the most valid point I've read this morning.

But it is also worth mentioning that we've been without our most prolific striker throughout the whole of December and we've also missed FF for four matches in that time, add that to our most constant midfielder of the previous 3 years now being a big injury concern and I can see why CC is worried about the availability of his best players.

Perhaps he could have bought some replacements in the summer transfer window? If only Chansiri has let him have a transfer budget. We could have had a classy central midfielder, a fast winger, and someone to score goals.

Praying I'm wrong.

Of course you have because you've been saying he's going to fail from when he came in...unlucky

Easier said than done I'm afraid. And I think most Wednesday fans agreed in the summer that we needed a CB and to improve the full back positions more than anything, none have been done unfortunately.
