That the possibility that the rave reports from Exeter supporters who are seeing him, week in week out, might actually have some substance. The likelihood is that in some quarters, if he does return, there'll only be grudging acknowledgement for the good whilst even the slightest mistake will be highlighted and exaggerated to confirm unshakeable prejudice formed in past seasons. Totally agree with this post, well put
FlyingOwl
I don’t think we’ll keep hold of BPF. Especially if Burnley go down. But regardless. He’ll be playing championship football next season and I can’t see it being with us. So I’d be wary about writing Cammy off. Think it was a potentially genius move for DM to loan him out. He’s been successful and I can see a future for him here.

Aside from the obvious difference in talent he’s just a better fit for a big club and big crowd If BPF recovers from clangers so well then how come its clangers plural and not just the one. The main difference between a clanger dropped by Dawson or Wildsmith and one dropped by BPF is that there isnt a clamour from sections of the crowd to get Westwood back.....nor is Westwood himself lighting that fire. But then again with 0 points from 9 since his reincarnation at QPR he wouldn't be would he 1

SiJ
We will need a new long-term number one in the summer. That isn't going to be BPF and it won't be Dawson imo. Another Westwood, Kirkland, Grant etc., would do nicely.

Just not ours.. The flip side to this tirade... He hasn't played a game for SWFC in a year and a half so all opinions on his performances are very outdated. All 76 appearances were when he was 24 or younger - keepers will improve until well into their 30s. He's been the standout player for a team only 20 places below us. He needed time away after a difficult couple of seasons where the off-field turmoil and pressure was getting to fans who repeatedly took it out on him. He's had an amazing season and he's contracted to us. There's so much moaning on here about us not developing our own players and Dawson could be the best player we've home grown in a decade. If we're still in L1 next season, we could do a lot worse. If we go up though, I'd look at loaning him to a L1 club - there will be loads of teams who would snap him up.
Beauchief Owl
Dawson definitely deserves the chance to show how much he's developed. Rarely has one of our loan players been so successful over such a period of time.

Year away in league 2 has seemingly done well for his confidence.

Devonstrix
All the Dawson detractors need to get used to the idea that he will be coming back to the club this summer. I’m sure Basso has video footage of all his performances for Exeter and will want to see him on the training ground in July. To hold past mistakes against him after the season he’s had at Exeter, would just be throwing the baby out with the bath water. Well done Cameron. Looking forward to seeing you back at S6
Bluesteel.
If we are in league one next season then Dawson would be a solid choice for us. If he hadn’t played for Wednesday before at a difficult time and he was an Exeter player keeping all these clean sheets at a decent age there would be some excitement about signing him
