striker
No, stop stockpiling players then complaining there is nowhere to play them. Maybe someone could explain the loan system to him. Or maybe just fizz off to their European super League and play their u23s in the premier League. Do not start ******** with the proper football pyramid, where it matters, not just for brand value. Zero sympathy for his argument, like a morbidly obese person travelling to a famine hit country and wanting to use someone else's fridge to store his leftover food. 2
sheffield_dave
The lack of respect is frightening. There’s clubs at this level who have won what he’s spent the best part of a billion quid failing to do at City. Maybe he should concentrate on not looking like a bit of a fraud instead of sh*te like this.
Owl ball 1980
Pep is wrong. I would like to see him manage a league 1 team see how he would get on without plenty of cash to spend. City had a massive loss in profit worse that us, Derby and Reading combined and there still sitting pretty in the Premier league. It's all money in football now, wish it would go back to late 80s early 90s, that's when real football was played.

Errol Flashman
Chelsea had about 25 out on loan the other year. Just a bloke. Being dragged along in a world that moves too quick for it's own good.
owls maniac
Being charitable I can assume he sees it through a Spanish lense, where a pyramid the depth of England just doesn’t exist. Does just show how out of touch some of these huge figures at the top are though, and sadly they are the ones who seem to always get their own way.

The strength of the EFL is unique in world football. The German second tier has some seriously big clubs in it but that’s the closest in the world, and doesn’t have the overall strength of the EFL’s 3 divisions. Pep doesn’t understand it and can’t be bothered by it. It’s a waste of his time and these clubs would happily pillage what they can from it and have done with.
satellitekid
The EFL could allow Prenier League teams to own other teams further down the pyramid. They could then play who they wanted and put money back in.
sibon
Someone needs to remind him where City were 25 years ago. What an entitled knob.
Guest LondonOwl313
He obviously doesn’t understand because he’s not from here and he can see the obvious benefit to it from a big clubs perspective having managed the Barca B team in a similar set up. He would probably withdraw the comments if someone explained to him because he does seem quite reasonable, just sometimes sees things from an outsiders perspective. The clubs at this level have too many fans and it wouldn’t be right to make them play an under 23 side at a training ground or something. Can already see from the tinpot cup that these youth teams aren’t up to the standard anyway, men against boys.

TommyCraig
The sheer narcicism of this man and those like him. Yeah, you go hoover up every decent player starting at age 5 all over the world. Then cry because they are not able get the experience you think they deserve. You are ONE team out of many in this country. I'm so angry about this attitude he has. Its all that's wrong with Our game. Pr1ck, he is. 7
Morepork
100% No. We should be making it as difficult as possible for these clubs to hoard young talent. If anything they should be limiting the young players they have and making it more difficult for them to keep players happy.
TomtheOwl95
From HIS point of view he is. From the point of view of anyone who wants to protect the football pyramid in this country or who cares about the clubs outside of the very elite then obviously not. As has been said above, Pep was schooled at Barca then went onto manage the B team there and then onto the first team. It's not the same here, it never has been and I hope it never will be. The idea of allowing the bigger sides to have their B teams in the lower divisions is insulting. In the grand scheme of things it's not that long ago the likes of Wednesday, Derby, Forest, Blackburn were all a few divisions above City.
owlinexile
No, he can fizz off. If he wants his players to play in the Championship he can get relegated like everyone else. 1 1

The whole point of moving from the academy system to the EPPP was to make it easier for the big wealthy clubs to take their pick of the nations young players and just because a highly talented youngster had signed a contract it didn't mean he has to honour it if the tariff fee for him is triggered Basically the smaller clubs are now merely the scouting agencies for the big clubs

The rules are that they can’t get promoted past a certain league. Bloody hell, it’s bad enough parachute clubs going up and down every year. How bad would it be if City, Liverpool, Man U and Chelsea U23s finished top four, with the parachutes finishing 5th to eighth, with the rest scrapping it out to finish 12th and make the play offs.
