That’s the most frustrating thing. I said to my gf when he brought MR and JS on, “we’ll lose the shoot out now.”  Penalties aren’t about who has the most skill. It’s luck and psychology.

Italy deserved to win. Sadly they played too well and and were all over the pitch in the right place every time.  

I disagreed with the England substitutions at the time but not going to criticise Southgate as he deserves respect in my opinion.

The crime was to leave changes so late when we clearly needed impetus on the pitch.

Agree with both comments.  England ultimately second best despite some good individual performances.  Southgate is great in front of the media but too negative for my liking and I question his tactical nous.  I wouldn’t trust him to get the most out of the talented players at his disposal.
