Does he know something is changing? Or is he just happy with life and uncertainty of getting paid on time. We shall see Yes, but also maybe not. Don't know about his family life, if like Hutchinson he now has a reason to want to stay in Sheffield - but if Bannan has Chansiri's ear, he may be thinking about his next step after football as a player too. SiJ
I know the club is a joke, but those moaning about this news are just moaning for the sake of it imo. He's one of our best players and our captain. He's signed on for another two years, which is just about right for a guy who is 31. There are plenty of other Championship clubs who would have taken him had he not renewed. As for the loyalty thing: well, it's a two way street. Bannan has been good for us and we've been pretty good for him. We are the first club where he really got to settle properly and show his talents. Yes, I have no doubt other factors will have come into play outside of any loyalty he may have to us, but who honestly cares. Would have been nice if some other players had followed suit, but they haven't and I wouldn't hold that against them either. He’s settled here. Like in any line of work you tend to stay or move jobs for your own benefit. So if he’s unhappy he’d stay, only because he’s settled here? Or maybe he likes it at the club, is that beyond the realms of possibility?

Perhaps. You'd think they'll be multiple factors involved in why he's opted to stay.
matthefish2002
I am surprised at this. Wonder if they are any clauses in his contract if we go down.
Lord Snooty
Let's put it another way. If he walked for nothing we'd be having a meltdown. As is it. We retain our best footballer. And if someone wants him now they'll have to pay to get him. 7

Bloke is getting paid a fortune at what from the outside looking in is a comfortable environment for him.
SwellOwl
This is great news in the midst of a basket case of a season. Great to have Bannan staying, I can’t see why fans would moan about this.

It’s also a pull to potential recruits in the summer that he’ll be staying. He certainly played a part in Andre Green, Chey Dunkley and Dom Iorfa coming to the club. Great news and hopefully more will follow suit e.g Lees and Urgohide.
Holmowl
Surprised but absolutely delighted. Our best player by miles and mild and miles. And he plays 40 games a season.

Ronnie Starling
It's an option from the bench. Let's hope we finally manage to unearth those quality midfielders we've lacked for some time.

steelowl
He is our best player no doubt BUT imo we will not ever improve or be consistent whilst he is the sole creator in the team Stopping / smothering Bannan -stops us next year whichever division we are in we must take the load off and get some athletic forward minded midfielders the like we've needed seemingly forever and certainly since Wembley and vary corner and free kick takers he too inconsistent 1
