Whilst it's not the fashion to be happy on here, why on earth was there any expectation to sign players in January when (allegedly) we can't afford to pay the ones we have?

Any newcomer takes at least 3 months to bed in and get to know what they need to know - and then it's the end of the season.  Our past is littered with ineffective loanees - and, of course, they're only available usually because they don't deliver or they've fallen out with their employers - hardly a glowing recommendation.

Let the men we have get on with it - they like the coach, and judging by last Saturday, they don't read Owlstalk.  They just need to do it consistently - and bringing in one or two strangers doesn't, from experience, generate extra team spirit.

Who'd be a loanee anyway?  As someone said about Obama 'You've been cursed with people's high expectations.  It also means they are easily disappointed'.  Nowt like a bit of culture on here.  UTO

Lets hope we get more Preston and less Coventry but when we have won its been more down to the other team playing awful.

As for the loan market its just that our recruitment team are massively incompetent and other team bring in good loans, Wolves, Huddersfield, Sheff Utd all got promotion with good use of the loan market. i think we have seen since Glenn Roeder left the recruitment of all players has been awful the only decent signing have been free agents and Iorfa a player Steve Bruce recruited. Who will be off in the summer or leaving as a free agent next summer.

Without strengthening the squad we are as good as relegated. We have lots of players out of contract at the end of the season, and an owner who is not willing to invest in the squad, or pay the current contracted players. This despite himself negotiating the contracts, and getting us into this situation.

Rather than reinvesting money from the stadium sale into the squad, it will more than likely be used to covers losses, and pay interest on any loans he has taken out.

Key point is you trade so you end up neutral at worst.

for us that meant loaning out Rhodes where there was interest, maybe loaning out one of the goalkeepers, and probably looking to sell or loan out a centre back - Borner maybe ?

with proceeds and freed up money you try for a young forward with pace, possibly a full back

Chansiri's dummy company hasn't paid a penny to Sheffield Wednesday FC for the stadium yet has it?

You can only loan them out if someone wants them.

We are the lowest scorers in the division and have very poor stats for possession and playing in the opposition half because we don't have a physical presence up top.

But yeah, just accept what we've got and game on whether a team that has picked up 28 points from 25 matches can stumble over the line and do enough not to get relegated.

Rubbish that it takes 4  months to bed in as well, if you find the right player to suit the need of the team.

That's confusing then because every other club seemed to be loaning players and players were happy to be loaned to clubs last night?

Very confusing
