You just couldn’t wait to start this thread as soon as Norwich got their second.

You accused people of wanting to see Wednesday lose under Monk. You’re doing exactly the same now under Pulis!

Post not poster - please just stop making things personal all the time and debate the topics

That game gives me confidence we'll be ok, perfect game plan, unlucky not to get much more from a game away to a team who will be up there at the end of the season.

Perfect game plan ? Work hard, nullify a quality opponent. Hit them on the break, with pace and precision, take a deserved lead ..... THEN ... surrender territory, surrender our advantage, surrender possession, stop doing the things that put us in front, make negative substitutions. Welcome to the wonderful world of Pulis. Enjoy your football 😀

The negative tactics that had Harris bearing down on goal twice and Pelupessy missing a decent chance towards the end? If we stick our chances away we're winning that. Also as Pulis himself alluded to, its not a tactic to give the ball away, thats on the players.

The negative tactics that saw us take 2 forward thinking, proactive players off and replace them with defensive reactive players. The negative tactics that saw us concede 2 and lose. Also where does Pulis suggest we pass the ball to with 10 players in our own defensive third. Barcelona, Bayern and Man City would struggle to do that

He took Windass off injured and Iorfa off as he'd played midweek and started today after a decent length injury lay off... who should be have brought on? Rhodes who's done nothing for ages, Brown whose done nothing since the fifth minute of the season when he set up Windass or Kachunga who has done nothing in three years?

The thing with tactics is they work until they don't. If we'd not conceded we'd be loving the fact that we were so defensively organised whilst also posing a threat on the break.

Sitting at home in your armchair everything is black and white. How many points did we get? 0? Well we must have had the wrong tactics...

Absolutely - it’s one of those games where, if pelupessy scores or pen is given we breeze it 2-0 and it’s genius - or the opposite happens (which it did) and it’s calamitous management.

There were parts of that game where I felt entertained and excited!! That’s not happened in a bloomin long time

Monk was wanted out after 10 months of relegation form. 21 points lost from the 85 min onwards. Having us play some of the worst football we’ve ever been subjected to.

Pulis has had 5 games man.

Monk had a better record in his last 5 than Pulis in his first 5

The main issue still remains our complete inability to score goals.

We so rarely get more than one that there is almost an inevitability we will concede at some point and let the opposition back in.

The sad thing is today wasn't too dissimilar to some of the games under Monk. We played pretty well, got a deserved goal, failed to get the second, then ended up dropping deeper and deeper, giving the ball away and eventually the pressure tolled and we conceded two poor goals.

We are in a world of trouble and this team has all the hallmarks of a relegation side and would do so points deduction or not. Honestly, it reminds me of the sort of teams we've had when we've just come back up from League One. There's so little quality and you go into every game hoping that you may just grind out a point or three. Even when you play well, you just know there is a sucker punch coming. It's crap.

In reply to the op why would anybody lose their heads.? We are crap...and next season we will either be bottom 6 in championship or top 6 in league one..i would imagine nobody are ‘losing their heads’

I think we will go down tbh.

Not a slight on Pulis - I just don't think this team is good enough to keep us up and without four or five new additions we've got zero chance.

You can''t polish a turd.

Fully agree with this. Not sure there is any manager that could keep this squad up.

If sticking my neck on the block will predict we will stop up but it will probably be very close.

Think though Pulis will have to use his contracts and experience in the January transfer window to achieve this.

But I cant see next season being any better and we will be fighting relegation again next season.

Yep, we have the 'feel' of a relegation side about us, don't we?

We have to work so damn hard for every chance we create, never mind a goal, all while stretching and straining every sinew to keep the opposition at bay. It seems inevitable that we'll concede an easily-avoidable goal at some point in most matches, which will instantly undo all our hard work and endeavour.

Add in ill-discipline, refereeing decisions which rarely seem to go our way, and a rotating cast of key players in the treatment room, and we have all the hallmarks of a team who are going down, don't we?

:duntmatter:

There seemed to be to be an expectation from some that sacking Monk would be the answer to all our problems, but they're so much bigger than just one man and his coaching team.

I can see what Pulis is trying to do, and it almost worked perfectly yesterday, but the same inability to score more than one goal and that same fragility at the back still run through the heart of this squad.

The January transfer window is massive for us: we just have to hope that now the wrangling with the EFL is over, Chansiri can loosen the purse strings a little more than he did in the summer in order to attract the kind of quality needed to genuinely compete at this level.

In the meantime, Pulis simply has to find a way to pick up a few wins with what we've got, otherwise it's unlikely any amount of great recruitment will be enough to close the gap to safety.

Amen to that. The next six games, almost sh!t or bust. I think we can pick up some points but there is zero margin for error.

Yep.

A relatively poor run between now and January might be terminal in so far as it makes our recruitment even more difficult: who's going to want to sign for a club already cut adrift and looking very likely to be playing in League One next season? Probably not the kind of players we need to help us stay up, in all honesty.

Over the next few weeks, several of these players are fighting to ensure their replacements can be good enough to keep us up...which is a scary thought.

Taken in isolation, that’s one we have to take on the chin on the basis that we should’ve had penalties. Luck evening itself out with the reading game the other night.

But to be honest, under Pulis you’d expect us to remain strong in the last ten and not concede twice. That is still an issue here and every single game we look ready to concede in stoppage time.

Teams like Coventry, Wycombe, Rotherham and co winning games just shows there is no reason why we cannot, but we don’t.

It’s looking a tall order for us unless we really pull something out the bag in January. But at least they look like they are fighting for it now rather than that reflex kicking in in February.

I'm afraid that this squad is beyond saving unless we have a massive recruitment drive in January, this squad is simply not good enough.

Can't score.

No bottle.

Mistakes galore.

No discipline.

We need an absolute miracle at this point.
