We ARE a big club

Seeing so many people repeating the Chairmans idiotic statement from last week - especially in relation to who we can attract as a manager.

Yes we ARE a big club. Certainly in the top 20% of ALL clubs in the UK

Don't let the fact we have been run into the ground so appallingly by a series of dreadful Chairmen and boards in the last 20 years (including him) cloud your judgement.

This club has massively underachieved in the 21st century. But don't for one minute let your Chairman convince you to lower your expectations of the club and what it is capable of. That would be letting him off the hook and allowing him to continue the under achievement.

STOP doing his work for him and hammering home the message we arent a big club. We are one of the biggest in the country.

All depends on perspective. From his perspective big clubs are those which compete in the higher echelons of the league above us. I'd generally say we are a big club but when considering our league and position. Certainly relative to lot of PL clubs we are not a big club.

Have a guess what any manager will say when he's in his press conference unveiling

Similarly ask any manager who is asked if they'd consider the job and hear what they say too

Then also listen to what every single pundit says about us

The only person in football saying we're not a big club is the chairman for some bizarre reason

Even more bizarre when he's about to appoint a manager and tell them we should be getting promoted this season

Let's not re-write history here. Mr Chansiri said the AIM should always be promotion, he never said we should get promoted.

Big club maybe but compared to clubs like Man U and Arsenal we're a million miles off.

Clubs like Newcastle and Chelsea who I would have said we're bigger than them in 1990s are way ahead of us now.

This is it. People get really precious on the size of club but we aren't a big club relative to most prem clubs. Its a sad fact. Relative to league 1 clubs and most championship clubs yes, but not looking above. I think thats where chansiri was comparing.

I get the feeling that Chansiri made that comment in response to fans telling him he should sell the club to red bull and that he was saying that was a non starter as red bull just wouldn’t be interested in us as we are not that big a club in their eyes.

Its not easy to interpret exactly what he means at times as his English is not that great.

We've got a decent fanbase, although a high % of the online fanbase are idiots & we generally have had some success in certain periods in history.

That's pretty much about it these days. I think you need more to be classed as 'Big club'

Based on what though? You talking about support and nothing else. Many more variables to it than that

I think we are a big club and the fans have big expectations. We always seem to do better with a big name manager with charisma and I’m hoping our next appointment will be someone who has a good track record and who the fans can relate to. I’d personally go for Nigel Pearson. Whether DC approaches him and whether Big Nige accepts is debatable.
