Owls searching for a main striker “It’s an area we know we need to strengthen”

Said it in another thread. He should have used January’s window better and we wouldnt  be

feckin about like this. At least he’s acknowledging he knows it’s a problem, bu5 this for me is the crucial signing.

The problem with dealing with it in January is we had the court case hanging over us.

Hence no doubt the reason why we got loans in. Not a great financial idea to sign another championship striker on biig wages. Lose the case and get relagated (which was a possibility with what was being said) then your trying to trim the wages for a division 1 sqaud and less revenue with an extra financial mill stone to deal with.

As for gettimg a striker in at least were trying, but I've a feeling we won't get the ones we want, so will end up with a deadline day loan (as usual) lol

Sorry to be the bearer of past bad news but in January we where under investigation for misuse of the FFP rules and on the edge of another embargo and/or putting ourselves in even more shyte than we already where/are...how on earth would Monk have been have to bring anyone through the door for cash?

Wednesday fans are great!! When people say Monk inherited a bad situation...this is exactly the situation he inherited. Doing a job with half the resources and very little in the way of been able to change things but lets sack him and bring in another manger under the same circumstances. Monk's rebuilding will take 3, 4 maybe even 5 transfer windows before it starts to major effect.

If only it was that simple.

It pretty much is that simple, there are players out there, you just have to go and find them. If you only look in Wigan and Huddersfield, yes you might have a problem. There may be players, like Garner, who will have the pick of plenty of clubs, so yes, by all means wait until the end of the window to see if we are in with a chance. Not the player though, who is integral to the way we set up. We have no such player at the club, so it’s not like we can limp along until the next window

You do realise that it works like

Monk gives a list of requirements to the recruitment team the the financial team do the maths and then we negotiate

The days of the Manager or coach

doing all the above is long gone

Also you have no clue where we are looking for players

Just another pop at Monk and the club

Of course I have a clue, you don’t need to be Sherlock Holmes to see that four of our five signings have connections to Wigan or Huddersfield

Hesitate to say this because its crying over spilt milk but I we had signed G Hirst two years ago he would now be in a prime spot to start first team games.

And he's just the kind of striker we are looking for.

Ok mate - I'll bite

Let's hear you explain how that would work exactly when we knew we were about to be hit by an EFL action, didn't know what league we would be in the following season, didn't know if we could spend money (And if we could how much we could be allowed to spend), how many of our current strikers would stay at the club etc?

Would love to hear your expert analysis on exactly how all this would work

The fact that every Tom ******** and Harry knew that every striker we had bar Rhodes was out of contract

He never played winnall

And he was very niave to expect nuhiu and fletcher to resign

Virus or not

Any manager would have had summer plans sorted by February

Talk to the chairman, find out what funds are available and start looking at targets

It's fairly obvious that this hasn't been done and now we are panicking

As for blaming Monk, of course Monk will take the blame, in the same way Carlos did over his signings. We all know how recruitment works these days, but the quality of the player brought in, will always be seen as the managers judgment call

Only in your mind does that suggest we have not been looking at far and wide options .

I said you are suggesting we are only looking at Huddersfield an Wigan in our recruitment drive

even though

Brown is from Chelsea and we tried to buy Leko from WBA

Stop trying to be the Oracle of the site because you are far from it

Why is it obvious?
