Bannan on today

Recommended Posts

"We've let the club down, the fans down and the badge down," Bannan told BBC Radio Sheffield.

"The players need to start taking the blame because the manager works hard day in and day out.

"It's 11 v 11 and it's not good enough. You can't go from playing as well as we did against a strong Manchester City (in the FA Cup) in midweek and losing 5-0. It's unacceptable.

"Not one of us in that changing room will be able to go home tonight and look at ourselves in the mirror. We've not shown up today."

I love how 20% possession and no shots on target class as a good performance midweek as well. Fair play we stuck to the plan, but if city had their shooting boots on it would have been a cricket score. The score was respectable in the end, the performance not so much. Speaking to fans of other clubs, we were outclassed start to finish and very fortunate not to have been humiliated.

Bannan runs his balls off every game, but he's surrounded by third rate players.

Its fashionable to blame him and somehow claim he's 'the problem'..

"he drops too deep"

he should stop moaning"

"he has one good game every five"

Fact is, he's the least of our problems. He is a very, very good footballer in a very, very average side.

You could put David Silva in our side and he'd struggle to make an impact.

His game is about knitting things together when we're in possession and to do that he needs willing, intelligent runners. We consistently have neither.

Bannan can still be the engine of the team, but the wheels have fallen off and the exhaust is dragging along the floor.

Bannan does his best with little help from the rest  that said the only one to come away intact and without blame  today are those on the bench who never got on the pitch

All lovely words, but means nothing.

With respect Barry, you've been driven there and back, been paid handsomely for your time and had some control over the outcome. No comparison to the commitment shown by the fans who went.

Same old rhetoric every fkn game ... Sick of hearing it and if he thinks that's the manager working hard he's as deluded as him

Fk off the lot you wasters

I wonder if they use the same hat that Monk draws the team from to decide who comes out to deflect balme from him each game.

Boring

He's a very talented lad, I agree. His attitude on the pitch at times is terrible. Also, how many goals has our most talented player scored/assisted in the last year or so? Not many, and he takes set pieces. Maybe he should take a look at himself before throwing tantrums at others.
