Wilder is losing it. When they lose he’s the most bitter man in the world. It’s great.

He really is a charmless old troll.

At least Warnock put on a performance with the pantomime villainry.

Looking at how Wilder has spent money this season, getting a bit of an easy ride.

What I can gather, they've spent near on £30m on their new front two, and have 9 goals between them. They signed that midfielder for £25m and don't think he's pulled up any trees.

Not sure how much wages Rodwell and Morrison were on, but another load chucked down the toilet.

Henderson has been class for them, can see him being England's number 1 soon enough. If he doesn't stay it'd be a massive blow. Could see them going for Hart.

Wilder has worked wonders for them with a consistent group for the past few years. Proved me wrong a lot in that time, really not sure what he's like with big money though.

It's ok when. you gave a team of players grateful for the shirt especially in the premier league and you ask them to run through walls for you. But when you spend the big bucks you might get somebody who says thanks but no thanks do you know who I am and who I used to play for?

I think Rodwell and Morrison were cheap gambles, to be fair. It all smacks of tests of Wilder’s management prowess which I think are being taken for his own egotistical means. By this, I think he wants to be doing a Clough-style signing to turn their careers around and get the best out of the players. Which going on how much mileage he has got from the current lot, isn’t too outlandish.

I thought that their transfer dealings have been okay overall, I mean none of their Premier League signings have been much cop, have they? It all just speaks volumes about how good their players from the season before have done this season.

Yeah, and look where they are, a lot better off than the other two that came up.

Wilder is obviously really talented, there's no questioning that. But, a blot on the landscape is that's £55m on 3 players who seem to have had limited impact. Looking at it, they spent £65m this season, Norwich have spent £7m, Villa have spent well over £100m (that's from Transfermarkt so could well be bobbins!).

Just to compare some signings, Maupay cost Brighton £19m and has scored 9, Mooy cost them £5m. Dendoncker cost £12m for Wolves, Ings cost Southampton £19m, Andre Gomes cost £22m, Delph £8m.

Net spend this year I think there's only about 7 teams higher than them this year - I know there's a load of caveats with that though. But still, none of them have really set the world alight. Could be a learning curve or could be not the best at splashing the cash.

Just checked.

Pigs are still in the top half of the Premier League.  We are still bottom half of the Championship with a potential points deduction hanging over us.

All the gloating and p*ss-taking over the last 24 hours had me going for a second there.

Sure, but football fans take what they can, and are under no obligation to be fair.

They've done brilliantly, and would of course have bitten the proverbial hand off for this position a year ago. But....

Pre-lockdown, everything was running their way, including such things as coming fifth suddenly qualifying you for the bizarrely named "Champions League".

Now their results are turning; by all accounts the performances aren't what they were (I can't comment on that as I haven't seen them play since the 0-0 at Hillsborough in March 19, but it seems to be a consensual view); and at least two of the superclubs who have been stuttering are now doing well. So they have gone from being close to a massive off-the-scale breakthrough to something admirable, but way less exciting. People will enjoy that just as much as no doubt their fans enjoyed it when we "only" came third in 1991-92.

By the end of this season Sheffield Wednesday will still be the only side in Sheffield to have played in Europe and United will be closing in on 100 years without a major trophy.

Form is temporary, class is permanent.

And they’ve only had one decent player in the last 50 years. And he got less england caps than Carlton palmer

You're right.

We should only celebrate our city rivals losing when we are above them in the table.

That is the point.....they have been succeeding on 'form' for the past two/ three years, unfortunately for them the break, alongside a couple of injuries has severely dented their form

The question is now.....do they have the class to turn it around, or is this the new normal for them, which will be interesting as they have set standards that a lot of their fans now expect

It will show how good wilder really is....is he only successful when a team has momentum or can he turn this around?

Well the latest what I'm getting from pig mates,  is that its obvious that the Premier League don't want them in the top flight hence the VAR disallowing all these goals. Its basically them against the world cr@p, and no doubt have another fairness in football protest led by Sean Bean and Tesco carrier bag full of Stella cans.

Didn't get chance to see them yesterday but according to my piggy friends they dominated the game and should have won comfortably?

First time  ive seen them. Only saw 2nd half, but they are very direct. I didnt see anything that made me think they were anything but ordinary against an ordinary arsenal side. Didnt think they threatened or dominated at all.. a draw between two average sides would have been about right.

Like plonk, i was worried they might achieve something this season. Yesterday was a massive defeat as i never want to see them in europe or win a trophy

I've seen them a couple of times on tele this season, one thing I do notice about them is the extreme lack of pace they have, particularly up top. At the back, they have usually looked solid and organised, helped by a good goalkeeper (although he's not even theirs)

Wilder's managed to get a fine tune out of them for quite a while, but hard work and determination will only get you so far in the Premiership, you need that additional quality something I don't think they really possess. I was having this discussion with one of my piggy mates, he's tried telling me the likes of Fleck and Norwood are PL standard, for me personally the jury is still out, especially Norwood he's always been part of teams who have chased promotion in the Championship and then finds himself in the exact same division year after.

I have heard a view that the brain behind the system and tactics is Knill with Wilder as the front man, motivator etc.

Wouldn’t be unusual for that to be the case.

Obviously they tried to get at Arsenal in the air and turn it into a game of hoof ball. Not a bad plan cos Arsenal are weak defensively, shame it didn’t work.

Also think they missing O’Connell, first time they had a couple of injuries. Consistency of selection has played a massive part in their rise.

It starts with the manager & then filters down through the ranks of idiocy & the food chain. The plankton think it should have been 5-0 to them.

It used to start with that bitter toohat McCabe till he got  deservedly shafted by the poundland prince but yes you only have to look at the managers and piggy sharps faces to see what a bunch of classless fcukwits they are.
