Hutch as Supersub

Recommended Posts

This season has shown what happens when you dismiss Hutch,s injuries. We need to manage this better next season and I would have him as our supersub.

Very difficult to build a team including a player who could breakdown 5 minutes into the game, so Iwouldnt plan to have him as first teamer next season.

Hutch seams like a great character and I think he could play a very important role for us coming off the bench. We all know he can perform the defensive midfield or central defender role but I feel due to his footballing brain, he could fill in in most positions, even supplementing the attack if needed.

when you have a utility player like this on the bench, it gives you more scope to have more specialist subs on the bench. Love to see us sign some raw talent with electric pace that you can bring on when needed. Like JJ not good enough to start but can be a game changer later on when players are tiring.

More like it.

He's like the Tasmanian Devil.

You have got to play him if he is fit or let him find another club. If he comes on as a sub he's likely to be so eager to prove his worth that he will just dive in and amputate someone's legs.

I honestly think that Jos will be able to manage Hutch's fitness better than CC ever did, if we are lucky he might also manage his aggression and get him to tone it down a bit. There's no reason Hutch shouldn't be able to manage one game per week if he is rested for any others.

The club will have to decide if he is worth keeping after looking at his wages and the number of games he can play.

I agree the option from the bench is not one i would consider personally. As much as i like the guy, i just cannot make a case for him anymore. I have come to accept that he is only ever going to be a bit part player because of his injuries and thus we cannot rely on him. I'm guessing he will be on big wages too so as hard as it would be i would just move him on....

Hutchinson plays one way and one way only, and for that he's got to take some blame for going into some tackles gung ho that he ends up injured. For us as a club paying his wages and him being injured most  of the season is not a good combination.

Let the lad move on with a sincere pat on the back and our best wishes. Great player but costing a fortune to be sat on the sidelines.

Would like to see Hutchinson as a central defender in a 3 man defence (3-5-2/3-4-3), along with Lees and Van Aken/Fred/Pudil, as I think a lot of his physical problems come from his tackling style when he's playing in midfield. When in defence, he's more disciplined and that will help him stay fitter.

With the ever changing game of now, having bigger squads have enable us to have players like Hutch - but he should not be playing 3 games in a week, if we get 20+ games a season out of him we will have done well. You hold him back for the important games or the derbies where he makes that difference to the team and the players around.

I would not play him at the back unless as cover, as he give us a different dimension in the middle of the park, but we also need a Hutch mark II without a dodgy knee who can play the other games - someone like a Lee Bowyer with the quality on the ball but ability to put their foot in when needed.

A similar player to buy should be xhaka. not the arsenal player but his brother. he might be expensive but it would be worth it.
