"Every coach asks me about budgets but I always say there is no set budget,"

"It depends on what we need. Whatever we need, I will try my best to support as much as I can."

But aren't those statements the reasons the EFL applied a points deduction.

Surely every club should agree a budget regards what is affordable and stick to it.

His heart is in the right place but it seems he hasn't learnt the previous errors of his ways.

I suppose it might be a mis communication and he means he has a budget but tries to be flexible around it, being ambitious (when needed) but always keeping one eye on the Profit and Sustainability rules.

All Chairmen or CEO's of EFL clubs should submit a budget to the EFL, and lose points at the end of the season if they go over it by  5%.. Everyone would then know were they stand financially

What you've just said is what we're currently under, SCMP.

The club has to give the league a budget and all spend which takes you over 95% of the threshold must be notified to the efl.

I mean, you can see why the EFL sanctions happened, can't you?

🙄

I was thinking that..  he should have a budget that is comfortably below spending rules but with the ability to go beyond if the right deal is to be had.

Can't say fairer than that, fair play to the bloke.

You really don't reckon we should have a set budget?

After what we've been through under Chansiri's tenure so far, I'd say having a set budget and making damn sure we stick to it from now on would be top of my list of non-negotiables.

Bang on

Good season from the chairman last season
Another one like that and the right players and it's promotion time

I haven't moved on from the horrors of his first few years and doubt I will.

Even promotion back isn't progress considering where we were when we bought us.

But not going to dampen any positivity others may feel.

Has there been any confirmation from the EFL hat the transfer restrictions have been lifted?

i have not seen anything

The restrictions were part of the agreement that was made when we accepted the suspended points deduction over unpaid wages, so there's no need for an EFL announcement.

It just covered last season and expires in the summer.

I like that they had the foresight to make two transfer plans, depending on promotion.

A sign we are getting better organised.

Sounds suspiciously like two alternative transfer budgets though doesn’t it. I think some of what Chansiri says gets rather lost translating his thoughts into English
