Really not necessary

It really is necessary to all the idiots out there who actually believed they were better than Westy!

What a difference having a good keeper makes.

Commanding and organising.

Doing a mans job.

Westwood was the best Goal Keeper by a country mile in the championship a few years ago and (possibly) still now although he is knocking on a bit in years and therefore more injury prone. However a player like this is someone (based on ability) that when fit is first on the team sheet and should have been used to mentor Dawson/ Wildsmith. However after CC (the Best keeper in Championship) he was just tossed aside for the new managers youth policy... Then he’s been brought back by other managers, out cast by other managers, brought back by other managers and so on.... In terms for of Westwood and Hutchinson I’ve always liked watching them as they always gave 100% and clearly wanted to win as much as the supporters... Both have been hung out as bad having bad attitudes and spoiling team moral... I’m guilty of buying into that poison in the dressing room crap... However I’m now starting to think that they were the ones that questioned the stupid negative tactics, crap performances by their team mates and the daft policy of replacing experienced players that were still in form overnight for inexperienced youth players  - so pretty much the same view as the fans...

He needs to stop hoofing the dead-ball upfield as it's usually going to the other side as per Boro game. Pep G got rid of Joe Hart as he used to hoof it as well as other issues. Play the ball out instead of hoofing it. Apart from that, I thought he had a good game.

Yeah, instead he could play a short little pass to one of our ball-playing centre-halfs, Lees, Dunkley or Palmer, who, expertly navigating the bobbly Hillsboro pitch, can play a series of intricate one-twos with Joey Pelupessy, manoeuvring us into the perfect position from which to attack. I see no potential flaws in this plan.

It's a shame you prefer hoof the ball.

Westwood like it or not is injury prone. When he is fit capable keeper but has played when not right and then makes poor decisions. Think this explains bad performances.

Last night did not have much to do but did what was required comfortably.

Still think we need new keeper for reason above and unfortunately Wildsmith and Dawson have not made jump to level required both still in novice category.

Any defender will tell you how much it adds to their confidence when you have a decent keeper behind you.

You know that if in the eventuality the ball does get past you, then you’ve got a better chance of the keeper snuffing it out.
When you have a keeper who you have less confidence in, it makes you more anxious that you’re the last line of defence and adds more pressure on you, therefore creating a higher probability of mistakes through nerves.

Defenders also like vocal keepers to keep them on their toes as they see things that the defenders can’t always see and can spot dangers earlier and shout instructions.

Basically: the better the keeper, the better the defence as a unit
