PHIL NEVILLE

Recommended Posts

If he did get the job, no doubt people will be gushing at him learning the ropes from Alex Ferguson.  But how many of his players actually did go on to become decent managers? Off the top of my head the ones I can think of who've had stints in management have ranged between nothing special and bloody awful:

Phil Neville

Gary Neville

Paul Scholes

Paul Ince

Bryan Robson

Jaap Stam

Ryan Giggs

Gordon Strachan

Mark Robins

Teddy Sheringham

I think Steve Bruce was probably the best, followed by Mark Hughes and even if we got him I'd be nonplussed.  (awaits list of top managers who played under Fergie that I forgot...)

I would rather us give it to Duncan Ferguson, and give him a chance as a manager.

Someone mentioned him in another thread the other week.
