8 - The build up to the Hull play-off final was special, all that hope.........

9 - Roly

1/ I think it was 1992, at Hillsborough to the champions Arsenal. We drew 1-1 with Hirsty putting us in the lead and Chris Woods saving a penalty.

2/ David Hirst.... by an absolute mile.

3/ Chris Waddle.

4/ 3-3 on Boxing Day 1992 with Man Utd.

5/ Swindon Town away in the hot sun. Won 3-2 on the opening day of the season, I think it was 2002? I’d also say the playoff semi away leg at Brentford in 2005.

6/ Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

7/ Chris Waddle against the scrubbers at Wembley.

8/ Keiserslaurten at Hillsborough in the UEFA Cup.

9/ Des Walker.

10/ No, it absolutely breaks my heart to see what Dejphon Chansiri has come to our club.

4) blackburn 1-2 away after going one down in a must win game (79/80?) and exeter same season, lost 1-0 smithy missed a penalty, but we went up that day.

Never thought I would be one of about 7,000 people at our lowest ever home game,

Never thought our chairman would sue fans.

Never thought we would have a petition to be wound up.

Never thought I wold get so sick of mercenary players De Bilde etc that i would stop going for 3 years.

Etc Etc....

I can take it.

First match - Gerry Young testimonial

Childhood hero - Tommy Craig

Greatest player - Waddle

Best match - play off final v Hartlepool

Best away game - Leicester in 1991

Best ground - Millennium Stadium

Best Goal - Foresters away to Norwich last season

Best atmosphere- Kaiserslautern at home

Best defender - Mick Lyons or Roland Nillson

Too much money at the top, sense of entitlement amongst the elite clubs, champions league becoming more important than league or FA Cup, parachute payments

1. Sheffield Wednesday v Nottingham Forest, Aug 1984, although I may have been dragged to Millmoor to watch Rovrum vs Owls before that time (dad supports them, step-dad played for them)

2. Hirst

3. Either Hirst or Waddle

4. Tough one this. Kaiserslautern (home), Chelsea away (Rumbelows Semi 1st Leg), Chelsea home (Rumbelows Semi 2nd Leg), Man Ure (Rumbelows final) or Brighton (play-off semi 2nd leg)

5. Another tough one, as I've had so many. Occasion, probably Rumbelows final. Atmosphere, play-off final vs Dull

6. Either Camp Nou (just for its size) or San Siro

7. Maybe John Sheridan, ZDS cup vs Pigs

8. Either Kaiserslautern or play-off final

9. Ronald Nilsson or Des Walker

10. The easiest question of all. Where has it all gone wrong? Sky.

1) What was the first Wednesday match you can remember ever going to?
- 2 nil at home to United. The one touch Owusu goal. In truth I remember very little. I was seven.

2) Who was your Wednesday hero growing up?

Adam Proudlock was my first favourite player due to his blue mohawk. In my defence, I stand by the fact that he was a gifted goalscorer & just struggled with off the field issues and fitness.

Hero though? Chris Brunt.

3) Who's the greatest ever Wednesday player?

Waddle. Obviously never got to watch him live but watched plenty of videos.

4) What's the best match you've ever been to?

Brighton semi final at home.

5) What's the best away day you've ever had?

Aside from 2005 in Cardiff, being from Doncaster and watching us beat them 4-0 at Belle Vue was pretty nice.

6) What's the best football ground you've ever been to?

St James’ Park. Very unique

7) What's the best goal you have ever seen at a Wednesday match?

Nuhiu against Preston - If Messi scores that it’s all over social media across the world. Technically superb.

8 )  What's the best ever Sheffield Wednesday atmosphere you've experienced?

Wycombe was a buoyant party atmosphere and I thought I’d never see anything top it - so the cauldron of noise that  we created against Brighton, feeling the ground actually shake, the lights. Unreal.

9) Who's been the best ever Wednesday defender?

I can’t answer for ever. Would be easy for me to say Nilsson like everyone else but truthfully never got to see him and any videos of the 90s etc wont highlight brilliant defending from us. In my time? Loovens was a pleasure to watch at times, so so calm. Shame he lost a yard with injuries. The performance him and Lees put in against Brighton away, especially once they both got first half yellows. was fantastic.

And....

10) Where's it all gone? When you experienced all of the above did you ever in your life expect to be now talking about FFP, P&S, VAR, Chairmen, Points Deductions, Hearings, Appeals, Transfer Embargoes, Court Cases, Lawyers, Barristers, QC's, Agents, Advisors and Loopholes? - too much pressure on everyone with the amount of money involved in the games. Quick fixes to get short term gains. Not enough youth given good amount of chances (at wednesday specifically but i hope this is changing).

4. Result = Beating Man U at Wembley, Performance = Tearing the blunts a new one in the BDM

5. Blackburn away, promotion season 1980

6. Hillsborough

7. John Sheridan v Blunts Zenith Data

8. Keiserslaugtern

9. Roland Nilsson

1) What was the first Wednesday match you can remember ever going to? Wednesday v United 89. Zenith Data Systems Cup. I'd been to other games before, but that was the game that sticks out for me. I have been told my first game was Wednesday v Newcastle circa 84, in the away end at Hillsborough. I can't remember it though...

2) Who was your Wednesday hero growing up? Imre Varadi. Just liked the name and he scored goals. Sounded like Lionel Messi in the 80s.

3) Who's the greatest ever Wednesday player?

Chris Waddle. (Prior to his arrival it was John Sheridan) Both could dictate the pace and direction of the game. Like having a player coach on the football field. We don't have that kind of player now.

4) What's the best match you've ever been to?

No. I guess in my day as a kid there wasn't the platforms to discuss finances or the sports news channels hunting for a story and it was never an issue anyway. You got your transfer news & gossip from the weekly football magazines. Glad I grew up in that era instead of now football wise as it was all about what happened on the pitch.

Are the rules really working? A lot of teams got into financial trouble on the back of the ITV Digital Sport collapse but seems to me that as many teams are facing administration or problems of a similar nature as much now as when there was more of a free reign on what clubs could spend. If the rules are supposed to prevent clubs from getting into financial difficulty they need revising.
