crookesowl Posted March 1, 2020 Share Posted March 1, 2020 Monk could have Liverpool’s squad and it would go wrong. He has blasted the players for mistakes and lack of effort time and time again. Many fans have lapped this up - evident yesterday with chants of “you’re not fit to wear the shirt” echoing round Hillsborough. Of course players have good days and bad days and they make mistakes. But for me the manager has to take full responsibility for our current position. The players look lost. They are frustrated at the tactics. They aren’t performing because they are trying to make a broken formula work. You could argue Monk has had a bad deal without his own coaching team but we were warned about this happening by fans of other clubs. The situation has become critical and Monk has to go. I could give Monk a chance if he had clear playing style and our players just weren't up to it, but there isn't. Its crap what we are watching. We need a near miracle to avoid relegation either this or next season. Monk has chopped and changed the side more than Jos. To play effectively a totally new forward line against Barnsley, (three loanees plus a returning FF) smacked of total desperation. Starting JP then subbing him off at half time three (?) times suggests he doesn't know who his best midfield players are, (JP certainly isn't one of them.) And breaking up a decent CD partnership for someone who in his present state of mind simply can't play football and being very slow to see that it isn't working... Time and time again we start a game and are wide open due to his tactics but he never seems to learn. There would always be a few in the team still a little tanked up and the worse for wear after a big Saturday night in town.
