Popular Post Lord Snooty
Reading 1 - 3 Wednesday Meite (54) Harris (30) ..................................Hutchinson (56) .......................Joao (97) ========================================= Westwood Odubajo Lees(c) Borner Palmer Hutchinson Lee Bannan Reach Fletcher Harris A strong start from Wednesday. Kadeem Harris looking a threat from the off with his pace. Wednesday really using the full width of the pitch. Midfield trio buzzing around and Hutchin sitting in and making a back 3 when needed. Super goal from Harris turning on the turbos to get away from his man in what was really a 50/50 race for the ball. Super finish. Reading equalise chip ball to the back post and their lad gets a jump on Harris and loops the ball back across the goal, Westwood no chance. But then what a response! Straight up the other end , corner and Birthday boy Hutchinson with a superb bullet diving header! Great little spell from Wednesday, really dominating the ball and playing it about well . Palmer and Fletcher both go incredibly close to textending Wednesdays lead. All going swimmingly... 77minutes - Subs Forestieri for Lee Joao for Harris 79 minutes a long ball, Westwood races out , Odubajo closes down , their lad get whacked. Westwood 10 men Wednesday reshuffle to 4-4-1 Dawson Odubajo Lees(c) Borner Palmer Reach Hutchinson Bannan Forestieri Joao Starting to open up but pretty scrappy. Reading make all their changes. Decent hands from Dawson before Adam could follow in. 7 minutes of Injury time! Wednesday conceded corners. Some tired legs out there! Oh hang on, whats this!! It's lucas Joao! ====================================================== Result Reading 1 - 3 Wednesday ========================= Played with energy and tempo. Closed down quickly. Controlled midfield. Looked lively up top. Tactics and selection spot on. Great start to the season. WELL DONE BOYS WELL DONE BULLY 29
meggoisgod
This is not a knee-jerk reaction but i really feel it would be a mistake to let Joao go unless its a proper offer
Holmowl
For the first time I can’t give my vote to any one player. Harris, Bannan, Borner, Lees, Palmer, Hutch, Lee, Fletcher 9 Westwood, Reach 7.5 Odobajo 6 Joao superb. Quality. FF worked his nads off but didn’t get a kick. Dawson solid. Tremendous away performance. Ryan, RYAN, RYAN!!! Edited August 3, 2019 by Holmowl
Mike Hunt
Gone for Bannan Had a quiet start but ran the midfield second half , Fletch Lees Palmer Borner all excellent , Reach only started playing when we were down to 10 men Odobajo poor
gillyno9
Reach really poor for me. What kind of a tackle was that for readings goal. Harris looks a player. Brilliant from joao to see the game out.

Weshallovercome
Went for Fletcher, ran his heart out again with some sublime touches. But everyone played their part, took a particular interest in Borner(sp), because he didn't convince me in the preseason games I watched, he reads the game exceptionally well and is as unflappable as you'd expect from a German......he had a good game.
Guest Kagoshimaowl
Westwood 7 sending off harsh Odubajo 6 Lees 7 Borner 8 superb reading of the game Palmer 7 Hutchinson 7 Lee 7 Bannan 8 Reach 6 Harris 8 finally a winger with pace Fletcher 6 Joao 9 Wow just wow! Plonk
Great team performance. Gone for KL for mom but it was close. Was screaming at LJ to put some effort in when we were under the cosh but then he does that. Come along way from Wigan last season

Bluesteel
What a nice feeling to win away on the first day. Not done since Brighton on Westwood’s debut if I remember right. A win early on is only 3 pts but really seems to lift the place and sets the tone moving forward. Shows what the difference a bit of pace and physicality has made to the spine of the team. But the most impressive thing for me was the response to the equaliser and red card. We’ve responded negatively to that so many times.
Dylan93
Gone for Borner. Pure solid today. Bannan wasn’t 100%, Reach poor. Need more going forward, but a solid start
McRightSide
Westwood 5 Odubajo 4 Lees 7 Börner 7 Palmer 5 Reach 6 Bannan 7 Lee 7 Hutch 7 Harris 8 Fletcher 6 Decent performance but I expect Reading to struggle on that showing. With the exception of Harris I thought we were strong down the middle and weak on the flanks. Iorfa, Lazaar (assuming fit) and cover for Hutch and this team would be challenging for the top
Lord Snooty
I thought Fletcher worked his cajones off today and got very little from the ref. Hold up play and linking was super. Gone for Hutch though. Not just the goal, though who doesnt love a dicinf header. Just thought his positioning was superb throughout , read the game brilliantly. TodwickOwl
Thought everybody was well above par apart from Fletcher and Odubajo I honestly don’t think Fletcher is the answer to leading up top, great for games where we need to mix it in there but we’re so slow with build up play sometimes in that final third - we really do need an out and out 20 goal a season striker. Fletch will hit 10 if that. How many sides have gone up recently without a 20 goal striker?
sagesse
Absolutely brilliant performance, worked hard off the ball and worked hard for each other. Just got back and honestly I think that with the way we are looking to break quickly we will cause a few teams a few problems this season. Bullen's subs were excellent. Joao didn't chase much down when playing up top, but if you forgive him this, his hold-up play was magnificent. Borner was a rock and Harris a great outlet. Bannan chased back and Sam huslted as ever. Even though I was with the Reading fans, near ours (who sang brilliantly) I couldn't stop a celebration for the third!!!
