The Money's got to come from Us

Recommended Posts

If Sheffield Wednesday PLC started investing in Private Prisons in the USA we would have this put transfer embargo nonsense to bed in no time.

On a serious note the club needs to start investing in non football revenue streams and ventures.

It would be like giving a homeless drug addict a tenner, far better to give them a loaf and a bottle of water.

Loaf and bottle of water = approx £3,  So yes.. It would be better and cheaper, than giving them a tenner!

Chansiri once said that he'd spend £200 million to get us up.

But he's not allowed to.

It wouldn't matter if he were as rich as Croesus.

It's about turnover.

The only way we can increase turnover is by putting our hands in our pockets.

The money's got to come from us.

We'll all have to pay a tenner a game more, including ST holders.

It's a packet of fags and a pint.

Either that, or we're in the brown up to our necks.

How do all these other teams keep getting promoted without parachute payments?

Are we embargoed re effective scouting, coaching, contract negotiations, team selection and man management too?

So how do Brentford (and others) turn out excellent entertaining footballing sides year after year on half the support we have and not ripping off their fans in every way possible?

It's nowt to do with us coughing up it's how well the existing funds are spent and ours might as well have been peshed up the wall.

The advisors and recruiters want firing for a start.

Spot on.

But how do we bring  a Brentford scenario about?

It's never going to happen unless Chansiri gets proper advice.

This is at the heart of what I'm saying.

It's not just the money to alleviate FFP, or whatever they call it now, it's about trying to induce Chansiri to seek different advice.

I don't like it, but I'll do it.

IF, and I repeat IF, Chansiri is prepared to take on an football adviser.

And NOT a foreigner.

Somebody who knows this division, and understands the game as it's played here.

We could raise £5 million over the season.

There's just no other way.

Hilarious

Because they buy better players more cheaply.

Which we did in that first season.

Then Chansiri arrogantly decided to do it "his way".

And to think that some fans didn't want Roeder near the club.

OK, his managerial record is patchy, but his knowledge of players and scouting is first rate.

What? Continue to throw money in to pay for Katriene Meire’s wages and to sign poo players on ridiculous long deals and wages and appoint crap managers - no thanks

if he knew what he was doing and listened to advice I for one would be happy to contribute

We need to increase turnover and decrease costs elsewhere the only way I can think to do this is a new stadium.

or fill the shop with stock at the right price

Sell the corporate places at the right price

Sort out the matchday prices to increase the walk up

Sell the player sponsorship and perimeter advertising (don't buy this theory that DC is coughing up for this 're D-taxis, Elev8 drink etc,

Stop signing crocks

Stop losing saleable assets for nothing

Stop paying over the odds for players we don't need

Aye, but Chansiri's only bothered about money.

He won't listen to us ... but he might listen to our money.

No Snoots, but if we don't do something then all the cash we've coughed up so far will be for nothing.

And it might still be for nothing.

Say I offer to buy an executive box for £2m pounds.

But if that two million is then wasted on yet another striker that we don't need , doesnt fot the system and then spends 6 months injured then I'll have thrown more good money after bad.

He certainly listens more to the language of money, but it's ego rather than greed which is the major problem here IMO.

I think the OP has a point, but for me the fans have committed and have provided a huge increase in revenue since DC came to the club.

I think we’ve done our bit - what additional revenue streams have been created by the club? The obvious one a stadium sponsor, if we are on the cusp of ffp surely that’s a no brainier?
