#SWFC's opening five fixtures - here's how we start the season

Recommended Posts

I'm looking down the fixtures seeing no reason why we can't win 46 games.

No one at this point stands out.

Realistically though, we need to start the season like we ended the last, then momentum could take us to top 2.

Here's a strange thing:

Our league start:

Wigan

Hull

Brentford

Millwall

Ipswich

Villa's league start:

Hull

Wigan

Ipswich

Brentford

Reading

Not perfectly symmetrical, but damn near.

Even our run in of last 7 games, we share 4 of the same (each other, Leeds, Norwich & Bristol City). Strange.

We’ll be top of the table after 5 games no doubt about it, those teams are well beatable for us. Wigan away will be a good opportunity for us to stick a pin in this league by smashing them 3 or 4 nil.

Well chuffed with this.

How come we are always at home the game before Xmas, and always away over the Xmas period - always?

Very true I thought the same.... two seasons ago we had two consecutive home games before Xmas and awayboxing day...similar last season too

When was last time we were home on boxing day?   1979 v pigs ?

I think Wigan away first game will be tough, do not underestimate teams that have just been promoted, Wigan will be up for it and buzzing to be back in the championship. Let’s hope we turn up to this unlike Preston last season, I think we will be a lot fitter this time round
