Centre half from Man City

Recommended Posts

The rise of the three young lads we’ve got could’ve got them a move.

Or he might want to shift Pudil to left wing back.

Theres a multitude of reasons to why we’re in for him. Chances are though he’ll be coming to play, not sit on the bench. City are one of the few that fine clubs that bench their loan players.

The only strange thing is folk thinking all is rosy with our defence just because we've been forced to use some of our youngsters. Lee's isn't even back in the squad yet, neither is Van Acken, And Loovens is a liability.  Given how weak we have been defensively all season, any strengthening in this department is welcome.

We have weakness in the full back areas, but if we only have a loan or two to come in, I would not be bringing in a 8th first team center back, we have seen the problems having too many players for one position has caused the strikers department.

If O'Grady and Neilson are lined up to go out on loan to league 1 or 2 for the rest of the season then bring him in, but only if Man City are paying the majority of his salary.

In 4 games under Jos we have concede 1 og, he builds from the back and when players are fit will most likely switch to his favoured formation of 4-2-3-1 so only 2 center backs will be needed with 2 back up. We currently have Lees, Loovens, Van Aken, Venancio, Ogrady, Thorniley, Neilson. Yes 3 of these are youngsters but Thorniley cannot be loan out unless Acrington have him back and I have seen nothing of anyone leaving on loan. Lees and van Aken are back in training and the other 5 are fit - to sign a 8th center back seems very strange without any departures.

We will wait and see.

Really hope there is nothing in this - what message does it send to Thorniley, O'Grady and Neilson

Why waste 25k a week (or even a portion of that) on someone else's player when we've got our own young talent to develop + returning senior players in that position anyway

Cos no matter what, this is Wednesday. No matter who owns us or who's in charge. The club just seems allergic to putting trust in its young players

argghh why are we still signing players in areas where we are quite comfortable (Lees & JVA on way back) & neglecting areas where we are quite desperate?

Morgan Fox is our only left wing back & he's not a full back.

Palmer playing LWB last 30 mins v Reading empathises this

Hope we are still in the market to strengthen in this positions

With Lees back, and Van Aken nearly there, Fred, Loovens, Pudil and the three youngsters, do we seriously need another centre half

Yes we do...........We need Fox well away from left back, with either Reach or Pudil playing there. Loovens is unfortunately looking slow and a bit of a liability these days, Fred for me is still unproven against the better teams in this league.

Despite our recent improved results, remember Reading had 2 clear one on ones against us and it could have been game over !!!!

We’ve conceded one goal, and that was a fluke, during Jos’s time here We also have Lees and Van Aken returning That end of the pitch is working well, and we have plenty of cover in the centre back department He’s a decent player, by all accounts, but hardly a priority

Agreed, seems an odd move unless other positions are being looked at too
