How many tickets sold for the Charlton game ?

Recommended Posts

What would we have got against Charlton without the price incentive? I reckon 19-20,000, so as an experiment, it's surely given the club something to think about. Any opponent with a half decent away following, and we'd have cracked 30,000 Good show lads

I think your figure is about right. If Brentford was 20000 today would have been similar.

It does give the club a big headache. Already published the prices for the next 3 matches, and already sold squillions of ST for the next 3 years, so very little wriggle room now.

and too many incentivised games like today, would leave those who've forked out for season tickets, somewhat disgruntled.

If the club decide to follow this route, and lower prices for next season, they could still do so without upsetting those who signed up for season tickets It would be an about turn of course, but things have changed a bit now, and there's a groundswell of opinion amongst football fans, that prices are simply too high. Nearly all Premier League clubs have reduced the price of tickets for next season. Of course, they can afford to, gate revenue is not a significant part of their income. I suspect our three year deal, was introduced to help pay for promotion push next season, if we don't make it this year of course The club can still use that money, but adjust the season ticket deals accordingly. For example, if we go with a similar price structure, for most games, that we had on offer today, we can appease those who've forked out for a three year ticket, by turning into a four year deal, with little or no extra costs. We will hopefully be in the Premier League by then Not saying the club will rethink things, but surely today has given them something to think about, as that was not an insubstantial increase in numbers They may have more wriggle room than you think

Of course there is.

The club can continue with the lower prices ,and " compensate" ST holders with free tickets for the home cup games, vouchers for the club shop etc

Today has proven beyond a doubt that the ticket prices are the reason for the low attendances .

we are capable of pulling 30k crowds every game if the tickets are priced right .

Im a season ticket holder of over 35 years

All the 3 year tickets are, are a discounted price for the commitment. 1400ish on the North instead of 1500.

There is nothing to stop prices dropping both season tickets and match day. There are plenty of things that go on sale at a discounted price and then the price drops again.

Not saying it would but it could happen

A one off game that gets just less than 30k doesn't prove that we would get 30k every week with those prices.

It does show clearly that it can have significant influence.

Along with many other things of course.

That

What yesterday has clearly shown is the walk up support for Sheffield Wednesday is still there even when it's unattractive opposition on a cold day providing it's priced right and promoted properly.

Hopefully the club have learned from this experiment and will now keep matchday ticket prices low.

Well done to the people at the club who put this offer together and to those who bought the tickets.
