Jordan Rhodes ...... Sky sports understands ....

Recommended Posts

J R has only played in Championship or lower, (other than odd Scottish International).....but does bang them in...165 goals from 261 games. Cost £8million in 2012. Age 25.

G H has only played in PL two games, (not scored), banged them in for Celtic though, but Stevie May scored in that league freely.153 goals  from 260 games. Cost £5million in 2013. Age 27.

You pays your money and takes your choice.

Those stats aren't right mate. Hooper scored a few PL goals.  5 I think. That's what Alex Neil said anyway.

I bet within the corridors of power at S6 Rhodes has been discussed either

1. Never or

2. To pee themselves at fee Blackburn want

But it's a great rumour for everyone

I bet within the corridors of power at S6 Rhodes has been discussed.

1. In the same way as any other top flight available striker, but more so. Especially with his Dad being at S6.

2. To discuss what would be a feasible offer to tempt Blackburn.

The power's that be at Hillsborough are no longer stupid and to reject any POSSIBILITY of JR coming to Hillsborough would be at worst, the height of stupidity and at best, pure negligence.

Despite Blackburn quoting a price of £12m for Rhodes, I very much doubt that's what they expect to get for him, or even would accept.

Suspect any deal for Rhodes would be much more conservative eg. £6m initial, plus add-ons based on goals scored, appearances and eventual promotion.

If he ended up costing us the full £12m it'd only be because he'd done the job we'd have bought him for, and compared to the riches that would bring, the fee would seem small fry..

Spot on, especially since they didn't pay anywhere near £8m upfront for him. I've got mates who are Udders fans and they were fuming as the £8m fee was spread over several years with various clauses. It basically meant that they didn't have the money for a replacement, but it's kept their balance sheet looking OK for 3 years in the Championship on 11-12k attendances.
