Saxondale
Must be a brilliant system Southampton operate with if they managed to find an exact replacement for Ryan Bertrand in Ryan Bertrand. How much more efficient can you get?

HOOTIE AND THE SHIT TU
Very good read and a lot of common sense The doom mongers and drama queens won't believe it As I've said all along, journo's like Nixon aren't in the loop, and are just speculating I believe Carvahall was always going to be DoF Gray would have been Head Coach, but he obviously didn't fancy it Hence the move for Cooper Onwards and upwards Wednesday If you do what you've always done, you'll achieve what you've always achieved It's time for change, let's give it a chance. Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife.

jonnyowl
So Carvahal as part of the committe as a general manager, bit like Les Reid at Southmapton, Roeder head of recruitment and Cooper as head coach. Simples!
Rodger Wylde
I've embraced it but I stopped reading when he said philosophy. Plus, using Manchester City as a good example is a bit strange. If you have endless amounts of cash, even Fishcake could put a team of the worlds best together, you don't need a committee for that.

ashley8
The insult at the end wrecks what ever ground you hoped to make. Man City bought titles not down to system. Two names mentioned neither stand out candidates. Wealth of football knowledge under Chansiri.... At doing what? Nothing to do with the jobs they are there to do. Southampton, quality managers and a youth academy producing free young players of quality well above League 1 then Championship and good enough for premiership. Your article lacks the details of huge money spent on quality or home grown youth players. Neither because of the system.

The Night-Owl
A interesting read. However there's a lot of if's in that article. And more questions than answers. Gray's axing does still feel harsh to me though and I was hoping that someone better or more proven was going to be brought in as his replacement(s) to justify the change. That said, it does seem interesting that we're getting with the times at least. Let's hope it works and doesn't turn into some kind of Leeds or Cardiff mess. The biggest key for me, much more so than whoever is in charge of the team, is and was always going to be the player recruitment. Till whoever is in charge, the committee and Chansiri start bringing in players we won't know their true intent. And the only way we'll know if this continental way is going to work out for a club like ours in the second tier, is by giving it time. Because there will be mistakes but hopefully now we're in a better position and place financially, etc to make changes when things don't work out.
