blueandwhitematt Posted June 9, 2015 Share Posted June 9, 2015 He was backed in January to improve a very good side. He brought in, Bent, Ince and Lingard, 3 excellent players for this level. However, the form dipped and they stopped doing the things they were good at ie being a decent team made up of solid pros. The Derby team became the Ince and Bent show. January time was about the time when McClaren made it pretty obvious he was off to Newcastle if Derby didn't go up, at least that's what the players believed. Its not rocket science to work out why the players stopped playing for him, and it wasn't because of the arrival of three players who made the team better.
