Reading in yet more trouble…….

Recommended Posts

Horrendous situation that shouldn't be allowed to happen. There needs to be some sort of governance over football clubs and owners. They are more than just businesses and they need to be treated differently. The whole system needs to be sorted. Money needs redistributing to grass roots better. It all needs to improve

Yep. 20,000 fans dependent on one bloke to do the right thing for their community asset.

Like Gary Neville said, football clubs need to be treated less like businesses and more like listed buildings.

To be fair to the owner of Reading (and Chansiri) there is too much money in football. There is too much bargaining power with footballers and agents. If a business is consistently making a loss, how can you keep coming up with the money to finance the club?

Don't forget that the payments to HMRC include 13.8% employer contributions that is an actual cost to the club. It is not just taking PAYE off players and passing it to the taxman.

I don't know the answer but very strict profit laws may sort it. Ie you must make a profit and you are allowed one loss in 3 years, should see the clubs cut their cloth accordingly.

He released a statement a week or so ago saying that he's having problems releasing money from China. Looks like getting money from the Far East to this country is a bit of a problem at the moment?

There’s got to be a better way than what currently happens.

Its broken.

Owner is awful, Club dies, EFL say oh well and that’s that.

I get it’s a business but it’s more than just a business selling products isn’t it. It’s the heart of the community and shouldn’t be allowed to die through 1 bad owner.

Maybe run your business better then? Employ people in positions to get the most out of your money, not just throwing money on overpaid ageing players!

Happens so often it doesn’t seem to have registered but 2 more points deducted today with 2 more suspended for persistent late payments to HMRC

And they also have another 3 points suspended deduction hanging over them for the fan protest that caused the match v Port vale to be abandoned.

It'll be like an episode of Scooby Doo, where the ghost or monster takes their mask of and it's the Mr.Taylor the janitor saying 'I'd have gotten away with it! if it weren't for you pesky

kids''

In this case, it'll be Chansiri.

They seem to be getting similar advice from the same Asian owner play book.
