HIGHERSTATE
This would've been the scandal to overshadow everything and given the press a field day. Might have dodged a bullet there.

Got to think the FA have been aware of this for a good old while. Doubt it has come to light in the last few weeks that he's breached the betting rules 232 times. If you recall, he was called up for those Nation League matches a few weeks back but did not play a single minute. Wonder if his lack of game time was because of that? Call him up (due to his good form and the many voices calling for him to do so) whilst they finalise the charges, but in no circumstances play him? beswetherick
Qatar would have been a good place for him, it’s illegal to gamble there
edmontonowl
Irony of the levels of sponsorship pumped into the Premier League by betting companies

You'd think especially as that what Swan, Layne and Kay got but didn't the player in Scotland who was done for betting irregularities a few years ago get banned for a few games? latemodelchild
This was rumoured a few days ago but I didn't connect the dots to his England snub until now.
latemodelchild
Just told my 16 year old son. His response was that everything he hears lately about footballers living his dream life and throwing it away pees him off. Quite insightful, he must get that from his mother I reckon.

Bannofan
Even if he hasn't been betting on his own games or stuff he can influence, if he's a known punter then he could be vulnerable to dodgy people. In general, football really needs to sort out its relationships with betting companies, it's pretty seedy and unethical.
The only way is S6
I wonder if he backed us to win it?

Whatever action gets handed to Toney here, I hope he makes an absolutely mockery of the lot of it. Gambling needs to be chucked in the bin.

BridportOwl
Incredibly selfish actions from Toney. He is in my fantasy football team.
Kopparberg
I know there’s money to be made but is it worth it ? Already a well paid individual I’d guess. Unless it’s become an addiction. I wonder if it’s a case of helping out people around him etc. It’s all alleged at the moment obviously (!)
