Ahh, that explains his absence in the England squad then.

Got to think the FA have been aware of this for a good old while.

Doubt it has come to light in the last few weeks that he's breached the betting rules 232 times.

If you recall, he was called up for those Nation League matches a few weeks back but did not play a single minute.

Wonder if his lack of game time was because of that? Call him up (due to his good form and the many voices calling for him to do so) whilst they finalise the charges, but in no circumstances play him?

Life time ban ?

You'd think especially as that what Swan, Layne and Kay got but didn't the player in Scotland who was done for betting irregularities a few years ago get banned for a few games?

Even if he hasn't been betting on his own games or stuff he can influence,  if he's a known punter then he could be vulnerable to dodgy people.

In general,  football really needs to sort out its relationships with betting companies, it's pretty seedy and unethical.

Irony of the levels of sponsorship pumped into the Premier League by betting companies

Ding Ding Ding

The game has lost any moral high ground to even be angry about this. Whatever action gets handed to Toney here, I hope he makes an absolutely mockery of the lot of it.

Gambling needs to be chucked in the bin.
