It’s pretty funny that Man United, the club that was at the forefront of the financialisation of football, are now suffering from the fact that the Glazers who bought them off the publicly traded  stock market are happy to wait it out in the states until what? Relegation ? You wonder if they will cash their chips in at some point and sell

Should also be pointed out that SAF has always been pro Glazer and remains so until this day.

loving the honesty about modern day footballers on SSN today. Mentioning they're wrapped up in cotton wool e.g. man utd getting battered, players moaning about playing 3 games a week (sometimes)... always liked lee hendrie, but he didn't hold back and also that lianne sanderson was spot on

And to date Jon Snow the only man brave enough to call the avowed socialist out on his Faustian pact.

Quite.

I just struggle to believe a man that intelligent didn't know what was likely to come once he retired.

I don’t think he worried about that tbh. His priority was to consolidate his position as the clubs most powerful employee and to get shut of the PLC. I imagine the Glazer takeover was very lucrative for him. Ultimately he did what was best for himself.

Really impressed with Chelsea - really unimpressed with Spurs

But that's what happens when you have one of the worlds best goalscorers

Absolutely stole a point but Spurs won't worry

They've a few new players to get settled in and I'm sure there'll be much more to come from them

Spurs v Chelsea seems to have more edge to it than the North London derby these days, proper spiky.

Chelsea played very well, but they don't create enough clear cut chances for all their good play.

Spurs very lucky to get a point, though they wouldn't have got that a season ago.

I think Chelsea made the chances - they were just wasteful

Havertz, Mount and especially Sterling should all have scored comfortably

I think their issue is being more clinical - because we know that sterling and havertz are going to be too erratic as their main strikers

I don’t see Neville’s point regarding the Glazer’s. From a playing perspective he really can’t complain.

They’ve spent more than any other club in the last 10 years. Regardless of where the money came from, it’s been spent.

I doubt Neville would have been advocating the Spur’s route 12 months ago when Nuno was there. The sporting director approach only works when the relationship with the manager is top notch.

Unless drastic changes happen within the players mentality, Manchester United will become the next Newcastle.

Gigantic stadium, loyal fanbase but a complete loss on the field. Newcastle went from title challengers under Keegan to a midtable side that also have suffered a couple of relegations. Aston Villa went the same way as well although they were more of a top 6 challenging side under O'Neill before their demise.

Some of the players they have signed recently have been panic buys. Some of the players that they've signed have not got the mentality to play for them. Others think they're bigger than the club and quite frankly, no individual player is bigger than Manchester United.

At the start of the season, I thought they'd be midtable - I still believe they will end up midtable this season and possibly the next season. Their new manager has a 3 year rebuilding job minimum

I think the point is that they haven't spent their own money (glazers)

Taken a billion between the family.
