I had to spend a few hours in Rotherham last week, so to kill some time, I walked to Millmoor to see what it was like. I would have loved to have got inside, but it has razor wire everywhere you could possibly gain entry and all turnstile doors have been securely bolted up with steel doors.

It is a very sad site to see.

I saw Wednesday play there many times and the atmosphere was always electric. It was a given that Wednesday would always be on their kop, in fact Owls were always everywhere in the ground.

One of the things I remember was the death trap that was Millmoor lane, particularly after the game. So many people crammed into such a small alleyway.

I would love to hear other peoples memories of visiting there.

I remember we always seemed to win there and when I looked it up I found a strange fact that there have been no home wins in the league for either side in the last 15 matches, dating back to 1981!

****    i did look the scores up, but they cant be correct as im sure we beat them with a late penalty one year at hillsborough

Yeah we beat them 1-0, Fletcher scored from the spot, it was Carlos second season in charge.

Regarding Millmoor, been twice to watch Wednesday play...First time was a 1-1 draw Ashley Westwood scored an equaliser for us. Second time we beat them 2-0, think it was just after new year. Lee Bradbury and Adam Proudlock scored. That ground was an absolute sh!t tip.

Never got the chance to go unfortunately.

Well, that's not entirely true, we played them in the cup early one season (2007ish, won comfortably, Wade Small cross shot if I remember correctly) but decided to be an armchair fan for the evening as it was on Sky.

The little garages on the side streets around Millmore are my go to for parking though whenever I've visited the New York Stadium. Straight through Thorpe Hesley, back in my front room 20 minutes after full time.

Millmoor, often referred to as Las Vegas because it’s built on a site of the old Gamble and Ramble factory that used to make and export poker chips to the Sin City before they had casinos there.

Many people think Millmoor is named so because it was built on a moor which had Mills on it but surprisingly there was never a Moor there and the mills were on the other side of the road and were largely sh!t

It will come in very handy will Millmoor within the next few years.  It will give us somewhere to play instead of a ground share with United once we end up in the same situation as Derby.  Hopefully the 75 year season ticket holders will get to reserve their seats first.

Used to go a lot as a kid. My dad was a rotherham supporter. Absolutely loved it, despite it being rough around the edges. Got to see the chuckle brothers, who as a kid I loved watching. Even saw them play a match there once. Their pies were always great as well. Pukka pies owner Twigg foods, were/are big miller's fans as well.
