Sunderland will be contenders again next season with Johnson at the helm.

Could have done with them buggering off to be honest.

Big rivals for the Papa John's Trophy Northern Section.

Nailed on we will play them first game at home, we might get 30,000 if allowed though 15,000 will be those who have won pairs of tickets over past 14 months in owls foundation draw. lol

If if Lincoln beat Blackpool in final will be first time in 50 years they will have been so high in league.

5 years ago they were non league and we were on the way to the PL. What a mess. Sickening.

They remind me of United when they were stuck in League One and couldn't get out of it. Their top scorer Wyke will be off in the summer as he's out of contract and Lee Johnson hasn't done anything of note as a manager to suggest they will be contenders next season

Before laughing too loudly about Sunderland's plight, it is worth remembering that they entered League One with the remnants of a Premier League squad and were still receiving parachute payments. We are now entering League One with a threadbare squad and without that financial luxury. If Sunderland couldn't get out of the mess they found themselves in, what makes folks so sure we will fair any better?

In fact as things stand right now, Rotherham are probably in a better position for a quick return to the Championship than us.

Well one Lincoln, just shows you do not have to spend millions and millions and millions and millions.

One game away from the Championship.

Absolutely, being consistent is the key. You don't necessarily have to spend and get the best players, although if you can  get the best players, and also be consistent then you are onto a winner. Some luck might need throwing into the mix too with injuries.

Johnson was a decent manager in the championship, without being exceptional. He got Sunderland to the playoffs in the league below at the first attempt, and I reckon he is well equipped to have another pop at promotion given a full season.

We'll see

You are bang on there.

I completely get the need to be positive, but right now we need to recruit half a team, whilst still (seemingly) having problems paying the players that are here. Sadly it seems like we are stuck with our financial woes too, as DC is unlikely to attract significant investment at this level and his frankly absurd valuation of the club will have potential buyers laughing in his face.

Also as much as I like DM, and agree that he knows the league well,  he doesn't have a promotion on his CV. Folk can speculate about whether he would have taken Donny up, but results had started to stall before he moved to us, and a lot of their fanbase were starting to question whether he could get over the playoff line. Whether that was because his head had been turned we will never know.

We might get it right straight away, but the smart money is pointing towards a gradual recovery, rather than bouncing back straight away.

Problem is, for us, Sunderland etc., is the expectation of promotion is always going to be there.

The likes of Lincoln and others, that pressure won't be there as much and I think it can be a real burden for some players at this level.

Whether reasonable or not, anything bar promotion, will be deemed a real failure.

Seeing it with Sundeland now and similar with Dem Blades, Leeds and so on.

We'll see

Had 7 or 8 match run without a win this season...

That club still has some obvious deficiencies.
