McRightSide
Both Windass and Monk saying it was a stonewaller I have to say that from watching it in the moment and then viewing replays I don’t see it that way myself. Looks like Windass came under a bit of pressure and tried to take the strike earlier than a normal stride would allow for and couldn’t sort his feet in time. Maybe there’s a different angle we haven’t seen, but interested to know other opinions...
Owly Mowly
He totally did the defender for pace, got into a great position to strike and looked like he got his stride wrong as he shot. Mayne there was a nudge or a clip, but I didn’t see it
horny owl
I’ve seen Wednesday players get assaulted in the penalty area before and refs aren’t interested so for an incident like this we’ve got no chance Wasn’t a penalty in this instance IMO
axolotl
I wasn't convinced when I saw it. One of those where had it been given against us, I'd have been fuming.
Guest
I think he might have taken Windass's legs as he barged into him (push/barge was fine itself). Edited September 20, 2020 by Guest
Flat Owl
Thought it was from the south stand angled but not so sure from the Leppings Lane camera. Windass was off balance to be fair and Would have been gutted if similar had been given against us.
Ethel The Tree
PNE would have been awarded two penalties for that 'challenge' 2
nevthelodgemoorowl
There are refs who would have given it, Having said that Windass final step prior to letting his shot off should have protected the ball a little more. A few inches to the left in that final stride may well have got him the decision. As it was I'm not moaning too much.

StudentOwl
IMO Windass was being out muscled by the defender, wasn't quite central enough, and realised he would never get the balance to beat Foster with a strike from the angle he ended up at. Cue a shoot and fall over and exclamation that the defender leaned in too much. Not a pen for me... had it been given it would have been very, very soft... but I do think the defender couldn't have got away with much more before it was something of a stone waller... agentwalker
would have been a bit soft IMO. Our players need to start being 'Smarter'. We've seen too many players either back into a player or move across them and just throw themselves to the floor at the smallest contact. When this happens to us we try everything to stay our feet and get nothing. With the windass pen a smarter player would have cut across the defender and forced the foul. Kopparberg
I didn’t think so from what I saw. Hopefully we do get some pens though - this might be our way of asking for one next time
Guest Kagoshimaowl
I thought it was a stonewall penalty when watching live but not so sure now. My 8 year old says he thinks it wasn’t a foul and he loves Wednesday so maybe not.
mattitheowl
He went down easy trying to get the shot off and hope for a pen if it didn't go in. Just not bothered...
marshy
At the time I thought it was soft. But, if pens can be given at Old Trafford yesterday, and just now at St Mary's for excuses for handball then yesterday's was a stone wall pen, albeit no hands involved. peggyowl
After what VAR has given this week that’s a penalty all day long. Touched him from behind (ooo errrr) Affected his ability to shoot without contacting the ball.
Brommers
Absolute 100% definite penalty. Although I haven't seen the incident myself.

Preston and Leeds players (Davies and Bamford) felt a light touch and flung themselves down. Both got penalties yet that happens at EVERY single corner, multiple times. Preston get more penalties in a season than we get in a decade. It's infuriating. I watched EFL on Quest and almost all penalties, handballs and sendings off would not have been given 20 years ago. The refereeing is so inconsistent it's ridiculous.
Big Jack
If there was VAR it would have been given . The defender clipped him , defo pen. Difficult to spot in real time though.
