I'd say Serie B is more like League 1 in reality.

The Italian market is somewhere we should be looking in my opinion. There defenders are well drilled and there attackers generally have flair. It needs persistence tho which our fans are short of.

No way we’ll end up with 4 better options than Windass or da Cruz.

Can’t see Monk moving away from 352 either. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if it’s Windass plus 1 starting up top.

Then he needn’t expect to see any improvement

Just think of the players we could have signed had we got the correct Gary in.

A central midfield ball winner, a left back, and 2 strikers.

Did Gary Monk and Gary Rowett get their shopping lists mixed up.lol

Woods is a play maker, not ball winning midfielder. Having said that, I'm a fan of his and would have liked him to have joined us. The others, meh, and Malone is poor, not championship level.

So we are shopping in the bargain basement at best so just had a quick look for strikers in league one. Toney is going to Brentford and out of our price range but maybe a few of these are not.

Will Grigg decent centre forward scores goals but not really worked out for his since going to Sunderland

John Marquis scored a bag full in the lower league is we can get a good price might be worth to see if he can do it in the championship and fits Monk role of a big strong centre forward

Mac Bonne player from Leyton Orient signed for Charlton instead and by all accounts had a good season in the championship could be available for around £500k and will get better. Young, hungry and improving again another of the type of players we are told Monk goes for.

James Norwood - spent a lot of his career in the lower league but has scored 93 goals in his last 4 and 1/2 season got 11 in 28 for Ipswich last season, with so little option up front could be a good squad player who would also score some goals.

Look none of these are world beaters but with only Rhodes as first choice, we need team options and quick and the likes of Bonne will only get better why not with us instead of elsewhere.

I think our expectations should be low anyway.

Going to be a very difficult season. Getting a team together is going to be hard enough. Starting on -12 points is hardly a selling point.

We’ve managed to get Brown thanks to his previous Huddersfield link with our new coach by the sounds of it.

Dunkley is coming back from a serious injury so he won’t have had championship clubs queuing up to sign him.

Won’t be easy to get more signings of even that level.

This.

I think that’s a market we should really look at exploiting. Call me crazy but I think Lucas João would have been a real handful in this seasons side, we need to unearth similar hidden gems.

It's got to be ********.ing even the biggest happy clappers on here that with 8 days to go before we play Walsall live on sky , we have just Jordan Rhodes as our sole striker ( if you don't include the 2 young lads in the academy) it really is a sorry state to be in so close to the season and with a deficit of 12 points to make up

Mate it’s my fear too, and probably most of us on here, but you have to hope things will be different. Without an influx of quality, we will be relegated in my opinion. We won’t have that first half of the season cushion, when we were heavily influenced by Bruce and Bullen’s approach. Yes Monk will now have his own staff, but even with them, he will struggle to get the right performances from the players who failed him before. We have to make these changes, other sides in a worse financial position than us manage to do it. With good players, that 12 points will easily be surmountable, if we try and go again with what we had, it will likely send us down

Eze has signed for Palace for £16m + add on. Not bad business and will sort there money issues too.

We can only dream of bringing that sort of money into the club, we must be one of a very few list of clubs in the championship that hasn't cashed in on players we've brought through our academy or one's we've bought , it's very poor management from the top and has been for years.

The young lads in the academy (Hidalgo & Hagan) are wingers there not strikers we dont even have any in the Under 23's. Woefully short of strikers at all level.

that’s a very good point. We are so short not only in the first team but also the U23 team of strikers. Ridiculous situation it really is.
