gurujuan
Tricky one regarding Fletcher, not helped by the fact that, if he goes we won’t have any forwards Well we have Rhodes, but I’m pretty certain we’ll be working overtime to move him on. We don’t want a downgrade, so a replacement is likely to cost us a bob or two. For example, we’ve been linked with Taylor at Charlton, who will be available on a free, and would be a decent like for like replacement for Fletcher. His wage demands though, will be high. Good strikers command high prices, even if they are available on a free

I think we will have to do without both if the information is correct. That's ok, not ideal but we will have to find cheap alternatives. Not having a go at Fox but there is no way he is good enough for the Prem. The teamtalk site comes out with rubbish most of the time

The teamtalk site comes out with rubbish most of the time He’s technically not good enough or has enough about him going forward to play in the premier. However, he is vastly underrated and he’s more than good enough to play for a team in the championship at the upper end of the division. Good in the air, he defends well and his positional play is excellent in my opinion.

He’s had his big 4 year deal and I think he will take it. He’s a decent player and could easily play in the premier. He’s good around the dressing room, he’s well respected and not a disruptive influence. Fox is underrated. In my opinion he’s a very good defender whilst a bit limited going forward. I’d offer him a 2 or 3 year deal as his best years are in front of him. Id give Penney a new 2 year deal too. The rest can go for me. They’ve had their chance and it’s time for a clear out. Surely a 3 or 4 year deal for a decent player coming in to his prime.

Both decent last season, before that not so much. Both I'd like to stay, but not irreplaceable. Every player has his value, if they fit with our valuation, great. If not, we move on. Shetland Owl
If they both go along with the others we will have a massive rebuild. Lets hope Monk can get some good players in
Blue and white
I'm hoping a new manager is top of our shopping list, closely followed by a rebuild of the current squad. 2

oldishowl
Left back is a specialist position but even so I don’t see Fox as irreplaceable should he go. For all his improvement he lacks pace and drive for me. How often do you see Fox take responsibility to drive forward and make something happen for the team. He has developed into a solid defender which is important but these days good full backs need to do more.
Jim
Palmer and Fox are solid championship full-backs but that’s all they are. If we are going to be more fluent and creative, we need full-backs who are just as effective going forward as they are defensively. Two new full-backs are a must for us IMO?

edinburghowl
The club IMO should not be overpaying for anyone this summer and that includes Fox and Fletcher. I’d like them to stay, they should be offered new deals, but if it comes down to a bidding war and they want too much I think the club should let them go if money is their sole motivation. In the current economic climate, in the middle of a global pandemic, there are going to be thousands of footballers with no clubs, and wages for that very reason will be more competitive. It sounds awful but as a business SWFC really should be looking to use this to their advantage and especially given the financial situation at the club. I have no sympathy for footballers earning less and it could be an opportunity to bring in players that before may have been out of reach before. Let’s be fair footballers have it a lot better than most people and they have had it very good for a long time. Especially at SWFC. New deals, reduced wages, take it or leave it. That’s how it should be.

That’s how it should be. Longer term, it will be good for the game, but the better players, particularly forwards, will still cost big money. Because we’ve got ourselves into a situation where we might need five of them, we’ve left ourselves with a big ask. With no strikers coming through the ranks, we will have a complete rebuild in that department There aren’t many clubs at championship level that have managed to assemble a completely new strike force on such a limited budget Getting our finances in some sort of order is necessary, but in doing so, we may end up dropping down a division first Edited June 1, 2020 by gurujuan

Agree totally, you watch fletcher and fox sign new deals lol.... agent is trying to spook Wednesday into given his client a bigger and longer deal ... if it works good luck to them . Personally got no prob with fox going , think he's done ok this season but considering how rubbish he was before it wasnt hard to improve. Like to see penney get given a crack at it anyway ... quicker, younger better going forward than fox .. as for fletcher would be a shame if he goes ... but I'd really like monk to be able to get the age of this squad down ...
