DobbinTheDonkey
Bannan can play well in a three, it's his positional discipline that can let him down. It will happen whether he's in a 2, a 3, a 4 or a 5. If the opposition crowd him out he drops deeper and deeper looking for the ball, instead of looking for the space in and around him but it's easier to drop off. Bannan is a great player but hes rarely playing where he can do most damage or give the most support. Also helps when we play Borner and Iorfa, they naturally make us play 15 yards further forward with how comfy they are on the ball. You are bang on there mate

Anyone notice the midfield not having to go as deep to collect the ball. Can't help feeling Bannan has recently becomes a victim of Iorfa & Borner being split up. (granted due to injury initially) When Borner is playing CB the ball is moved forward at a quicker pace than when Lees is playing. The split seconds extra Lees takes in his decision making costs valuable yards with the result of Bannan having to go deeper to collect the ball. The midfield today had the luxury of not having to do that, so not totally convinced it is all down to Bannan deliberately playing deep. 100% agree though he needs to be further forward.

It’s not an individual attack some posters just won’t have anything said about Bannan, and will take stuff out of context if they get even a sniff that it might not suit their agenda Edited January 4, 2020 by FreshOwl

He can still be a good player, but in the current set up he’s doing too much/being coached incorrectly. That’s plain for all to see
S72 Owl
The same Bannan that had the most assists in the Championship in 2019? Bannan, Luongo and Lee is the midfield I’d go with.
Belfast Owl 2
Its obvious Bannan drops deep cause of the formation. Imagine if Joey played ahead of Bannan v Leeds and we lost. Bannan Luongo and Lee to start next game

Different ideas for set pieces, midfielders in their rightful positions tin hat on Your probably not wrong in terms of todays match however it staggers me that people don't understand that the formation and tactics we play will always yield completely different results because the opposition will always play different formations, systems, players and will also play well or poorly. So in reality we could play exactly this same team and formation and get trounced next week. It just seems to be something that football fans overlook. No one ever seems to consider you are playing 11 other men, who are set uo to nullify or dominate the way you have lined up.

Owly Mowly
I think our best midfield is Bannan and lee with either luongo or Hutch. Lee always supports the front man we’ll and with reach and Harris wide this is the best way forward for me
