The forward players were pretty anonymous yesterday. But it’s harsh to have a go at then when the team played so badly overall.  We were massively over run in central midfield and we managed 2 shots on target in the entire 90 minutes - one of them the penalty.

The forward players are never ever going to excel are they when the midfield is so poor,  exposed and creates next to nothing for them.

LB insisted we were playing 442 yesterday and so the 2 must have been Fletcher and Forestieri.

It was so badly executed that we assumed it was 433 with Fletcher, Forestieri and Harris as the 3, which it should have been. It wasn't until Nuhiu came on that we thought we'd gone 442.

I don't think the complete shambles of formation and substitutions helped anyone play their best.

I also but probably expected it was a 4-3-3 that could revert when out of possession to a 4-5-1. If it was 4-4-2 then Bullen has serious questions to answer such as why the players didn't follow the instructions, what was said at half time to address it but saw the team perform worse, why weren't changed made earlier, and why change the formation in the first place. Bullen showed a lack of tactical nous yesterday.

He was miles off the pace which isn’t surprising considering his lack of game time. He offered us nothing in terms of creativity and failed to deliver the spark we were desperate for.

did anybody offer any creativity, must av nipped to the toilet and missed it,i am beginning to think unless we get a manager in it will be dejavu as last season,

If that was Rhodes playing like Forestieri yesterday there would have been a 20 page thread by early evening yesterday

This goes to prove that whoever plays up front unless there is decent service and someone who can create chances out forwards are going to to working on scraps and half chances at best

I don't think anybody is suggesting that FF was the sole reason for our poor performance yesterday.

But his inclusion highlighted the utter shambles the club finds itself in.

Lee Bullen in charge for the first game of the season with a patchwork coaching team and our apparant 'star' players from the class of 2016 growling and slouching around the pitch with a nauseating air of entitlement.

Specifically, a player in FF who was once worth double-digit millions making a woeful cameo apprarance that only proves what a rudderless and sickly club we have become.

If only he was English

Sadly, he's another one who's living off that great first season under Carlos. However, that's 4 seasons ago. If we're honest, our current full backs are not as good as Pudil and Hunt, Hutch, Bannan and Lee et al are 4 years older and on the decline. We have significantly regressed as a club and have sold the ground to pay for the regression. Bonkers.

You tell us then.

Did the change from the 433 that had won 2-0 and 1-0 at home to a 442 to accommodate a No 10, second striker, CF or floater Nando, improve or worsen how we played? Let alone the outcome.

In my lowly opinion, Bullen bowed to the fans, some of them any way, and changed the formation to play FF. Very bad decision that's why Bullen will not become a manger, he is not strong enough to be ruthless.

He was poor. Even when Bullen was asked for his thoughts on his performance he was struggling to say anything positive. I couldn't fathom where he was supposed to be playing and certainly didn't link up with Fletcher.

Absolutely priceless, Bullen didn't have much to say because he was totally f....d over tactically in the second half by a more experienced manager ,everyone in the second half were poor, the substitutions were a waste of time and totally ineffective, QPR had our pants down big time, Bullen got it totally wrong and he knows it, Fessi was one of the better players in the first half and no worse than anyone else in a dire second half, what did Bannan do? but nowts said , some posts on here absolutely beggar belief.

What about last week at Preston, week before at Millwall, lets blame him for them abysmal performances while we're at it.:tango:

Some of the posts in this thread are a perfect example of how everything and everyone is brilliant when we have a couple of results and everyone and everything is a shambles when we lose.

The squad hasn’t changed enough since 2015 and it needs another summer and someone willing to push that change through and manage the chairman through it as he will be reluctant to let some of these players walk. However, the players also know it’s their last chance as a group and they need to back up the talk. We need a manager first and foremost who can harness that and get these players pushing for the top six. In this league that should be doable
