Premier League 2019/20

Man Utd still the only team to hold LiVARpool to a draw this season, and that was a late equaliser from the scousers. Hopefully another team can step up and cause an upset between now and May as the thought of them going unbeaten is effing annoying

Who outside of Liverpool would get in team of the season (based of what we have seen so far)?

Actually struggling to think of too many.

De Bruyne? Aguero? Vardy?

Only two to three at most.

Was talking about this when that Liverpool/United joint team video was on Twitter before the game.

I think there are quite a few players who are 'better' than their equivalents at Liverpool, viewed in isolation.

I'm not sure many players at all would get into the Liverpool team.

e.g. Aguero is scoring more than a goal a game at the moment, absolutely miles ahead of Firmino's record. But not at all sure Aguero would fit into Klopp's team better than Firmino.

Liverpool are a fantastic team right now.

But would they be unbeaten if Man City weren't in the situation of losing key players to injury? Their defence is shocking. Or the likes of Man Utd, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal just aren't competitive right now.

There's similar circumstances this year as there was when Leicester won the league.

Obviously Liverpool are now way beyond what Leicester were, so aren't just gonna win it, they're wiping the floor with everyone else.

The league being so weak removes the feel of dominance for me. Let's see if they can keep this up when Utd, Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal and a few others are back near the top.

It is just a bit dull really.

They're so much better than everyone this season.

Apparently, they can get the title wrapped up as early as March?

Would take Leicester and City pretty much dropping points in every game, but still.

Perfect storm for Liverpool. A top team playing when a lot of their traditional rivals are either in transition and/or gone off the boil.

Get the feeling that holding them off last season (plus the losses of Kompany, Laporte) have done for City.

Leicester are a good team having a very good season.

The rest are very hit and miss.

It’s a bit like in F1 where Hamilton and Mercedes won the title by May and the rest of the season made F1 even more dull than it already has become.  Or like a boxing fight you look forward to watching only for it be a knockout in the 1st round.

As someone posted I don’t feel Liverpool will dominate again next season, with the resurgence of other big clubs, and players going to the African cup of nations in January. Hopefully it will be more competitive anyway

It's a bit of a letdown after last year.

Liverpool dropped 11 points total in the last 26 games and got overtaken by City in the process. Ludicrous season.

Didn't Liverpool get more points last season that SAF ever did at Man Utd, and still didn't win the title?

it was incredible really.

It really does feel like everyone outside the top 3 or so are just mid to bottom half teams.

Bizarre season.

Utd have 1 win in 6 and are still only 1 point off 5th place and 7 points behind 4th place Chelsea who seem to let themselves down every other game. Conversely Utd are now only 3 points ahead of 13th place.

Anyone else see VAR being better used abroad? Saw recently a Sevilla player falling over and handling in a build up to a go against Real Madrid. VAR checked it and said there was no way the player could avoid it and the goal stood. Over here goals like that have been disallowed or penalties given when players couldn't avoid handling. Also, they seem to go to the monitors more in other top European leagues.

Yeah, have you noticed 4th are closer to the drop than the top? All the talk of top 4 over the years, yet Liverpool are running away with it. Them and Man City are in a different league to the rest of the top flight. Arguably Liverpool were unfortunate last season and Man City would have been nearer to them this season if they had strengthened their defence.

The likes of Arsenal and Spurs are under 9 points away from the drop, yet slightly further away from 4th spot. Man United in 5th who have looked very poor under Solskjaer are only 11 points above the drop zone yet 30 points behind the league leaders and played a game more than them too.

Can't help feeling, that years of Champions League and TV money as diluted the competition. Not only does it distort the transfer market but the top couple of teams are further away in quality than the rest of the top flight than ever before. The top flight over here is becoming as boring and dominated by a couple of clubs like most of the other top European leagues have been for the past decade or so. There were dominant sides in the past but the top flight never seemed this boring and weak to me back when I still loved football in the 90s/early 2000s. Back then the majority of the top Leagues were exciting.
