I suspect the previous contract ended on June 30th. The fact that he signed for us my signify a relaxing of an embargo. The rest is irrelevant. He had the option to join another club. I don't think he would have unless he believed that the club were laying a strong base to build on. I obviously don't know but I suspect that offers from elsewhere were better financially. Not sure about location because, as I understood it, one of the other clubs interested were Huddersfield. We had an optional 1 year extension, so he would have been our player whether he signed the deal or not. Happy he has signed a 2 year deal though.
