The 6 Nations games are totally different to a run of the mill Championship match.

The Rugby is a big occasion with people planning going for months before hand and making a weekend of it.

Normal Wednesday game everyone normally has they own routine after the games of either going to the pub or home.

Can see people wanting to stay behind to drink expensive beer out of a plastic glass in the winter months.

I agree 100% with your first point but don't you find non segregated fans at a stadium a bit boring? I often go to watch London Irish and i know they don't get the numbers to really generate an atmosphere but there is something lacking when you don't get fans playing off each other. I don't mean violence i just mean atmosphere.

I think Rugby and Cricket crowds pride themselves on them not being tribal like football.

Its one of the things that people love about football but think the culture of Rugby and cricket is that people see it as you are there to enjoy the day and the game and the result is secondary.

Two totally different cultures. In terms of football clubs who do this sort of thing I can't think of one. Rugby is more of a day out as people travel from all over the country. Football fans just want to get home at the end of a match, it's the nature of the beast.

Not in this country, but I believe on the continent they do this sort of thing. Especially in Germany. They treat it as a day long social event. I think it's a good idea, but realistically the Hillsborough site is not big enough outside the stands themselves for people to be socialising.

That's a fair point, i know when LR lose the fans don't seem too bothered (me included) but when Wednesday lose its a different matter. My girlfriend who isn't a big sports fan loves coming to Hillsborough but rugby is a difficult "sell" as the atmosphere is non-existent. Even when Hillsborough is flat its never as bad as the rugby.

We do this. I sing half an hour after every game but everyones gone by then.

Are you Clive from Burnley? If you are you need to practice your Bono impersonation, it's rubbish.

There are 2 things football could do with taking from rugby:

1) Referees should take the same no nonsense attitude as rugby refs. Players (and I would imagine fans to an extent) would start behaving a bit better if they stamped their authority on the game a bit more. Chat back, yellow card. Shout abuse, yellow card. Etc etc. If Nigel Owens, a 5ft 6 openly gay, openly bulimic man can command the respect of thirty 6ft 6, 23st players, then I don't see why football referees can't deal with 22 petulant footballers.

2) Football fans (the nawty minority anyway) could take a leaf out of the rugby fans behaviour at matches. I've watched England vs Wales at the Millennium stadium, sat amongst the home fans, wearing an England shirt and openly cheering and the only thing that happened was that when a Welsh fan spilt my pint, he apologised and bought me another one.

Should slapped the taffy flipper then windmilled into a load of his mates while shouting “fackin c’mon theeeen!! Engerrrrland Engerrrrland Engerrrland!!!”

lol

When we’ve played Brighton away, the keep the bars open for away fans and it’s pretty decent to be honest.

Obviously for home matches 9 out of 10 of us just want to get home but keeping a few bars on the south stand might make the club a few extra quid

Worth an experiment for a season

Totally agree.  It's an absolute pleasure watching a rugby match with a large crowd and not feeling intimidated and fearful of getting my face kicked in by a knuck-dragging opposition supporter.

I'm organising a litter pick up and sing song after home games on the kop if anyone wants to join. We usually linger for a few hours after home games.

just be careful that you don't get mistaken for a couple of down and outs looking for left over takeaways.:Sid:

I’d rather leave at full time and go pointing fingers at away fans than stop behind, half conscious due to the phantom farter, than watch some cover band prancing around.

Edit: Vulva summed it up pretty well... he’s not bad though that Clive bloke from Burnley.

I've heard that 'Stars in Their Eyes' is making a comeback and Clive is the very first person on it, be interesting to see how he gets on lol

If you go the football hoping to be entertained by anything but the football, then well that's your fault not Mr C's.

If you go to watch Wednesday hoping to be entertained by the football then you're being a tad optimistic.
