I hear what your saying as we haven't seen much of him, though what we have seen hasn't been very encouraging. Having said that i remember laughing at how poor Harry Maguire looked whenever i saw him and mentioned how he had a bigger turning circle than the QE2. He turned out not too shabby

Exactly.

We paid a large fee for this guy and played him. Car crash defender. We loaned a far superior player in Venancio and didn't play him. Venancio was available to buy for 800k but due to embargo we couldn't do it.. typical wednesday.

It's all part of DC's "Trumpesque" 4-dimensional chess masterplan, we just aren't smart enough to work it out..... lol

Any idea if this is a loan or a permanent transfer?

I'd rather the new regime bring their own selections in.

I’d rather be driving a Ferrari but sometimes you have to make do with what you’ve already got.

I’d like to see what Bruce can do with him before we give up on the lad. He does have a lot of good attributes and could develop into a good player with the right guidance.

Maguire had reaction speed, this chap has absolutely none. If you look at Sunderland game he played this season for instance. One of their players cam steaming in from a long way out, I could have got out of way and I am over 50, he was rooted to spot and took full force of tackle. I am amazed he was not even more seriously injured. If you do not have ability for self preservation their is not much hope with rest of game. he could hit a nice pass but if you are a centre back it is no use if you can not tackle and can not gauge headers correctly. He was absolutely hopeless as a defender and he unsettled other players around him.

I saw him play at Heerenveen many times and he looked decent but Championship football is totally different and throwing him into the team straight away was not the best decision. The game here is far more physical and with the exception of one or two teams in the Eredivisie the rest are nowhere near top flight teams and would probably struggle against most Championship sides. JvA made mistakes no doubt about that, but there was the occasional glimpse of hope. Unfortunately the signing looks to have cost both us and him. Us being out of pocket and JvA having no games and no confidence.

I think later today or tomorrow there could be a good chance of an official statement confirming his move. I have a fairly decent understanding of the Dutch language! I wish him all the best, he is still young and will hopefully do well somewhere.

Remember, we apparently spunked £4m for this half life defender, but couldn’t afford the £700k to secure Fred.

Joke and shambles wouldn’t touch the sides in describing how this club is laughably run.

If true, good luck to the lad at his next club.

Unfortunately he's not up to the physical side of the championship as his lack of availability and performances when available have showed.

We were under a transfer embargo so we couldn’t sign Fred.....nothing to do with not being able to afford the deal but don’t let facts get in the way of a good story eh

Our fans really do blow our own players up over as little evidence as possible

Van Aken plays one good ball away at Cardiff and he’s suddenly Alessandro Nesta

Penney does one dummy against villa and he’s Johan Cryuff

Its like you forget how poor the rest of their game is and focus on that one moment

In fairness we've not had many heroes in the past 20 years or so, it's easy to be judgmental when you can remember watching the likes of Waddle and Sheridan play!

In a way I hope he does go.

Not really for footballing reasons. More to expel to the history books the random transfer fees that people make up regarding what we paid for him.

So do you want someone who would run the club without any ambition but just do enough each season to plod on? Like a Mike Ashley

We are not the only club that make mistakes in the transfer market, not every

one guarantees success.

What are the odds on JVA playing in the 2022 World Cup.

It's the Wednesday Way!

I'm guessing low. Particularly considering how good the Dutch look at the minute.

Does anybody know how much we did actually pay for him?

It’s just another example of our recent recruitment failings He doesn’t seem like a good fit for us, for whatever reason, so a move back to Holland might be the best outcome for all concerned.

What harm could it do to give praise when he has upped his game. It may be over the top (isn’t in my opinion) but conversely the level of criticism he receives on recent performances is by far further away from reality.

Some people need to justify their entrenched position just to prove they haven’t got something wrong.

To top it all, this is criticism of a man giving his all whilst wearing a Wednesday shirt.

" Giving his all whilst wearing a Wednesday shirt" should be a basic job requirement, not something to be regarded as a specific attribute that warrants praise IMHO, which is what appears to be suggested here.
